I was curious to know if any members here have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD? I myself was diagnosed with ADHD as well as couple other things,...for those diagnosed...Which Med are u taking for it?...Adderall?,Strattera, Ritalin? etc...and how do u feel it is working 4 you?...I myself was on stratterra and I had to discontinue due to some fucked up side effects(bad thoughts,twitching)...anyone with Personal experience, please share..............Z

an old friend of mine has adhd, and adderall helped him big time. he found it to be a huge pain in the ass to keep getting the blood work and constant dr visits the drug requires to prescribe though.

Yeh ima talk to my Psych and see if adderral would be a better choice...and yes all my meds are RX,i have very good doctor...........Z

I used adderall on a "as needed" basis. I hate the side effects, I think with continual, daily use the side effects subside.

I have a friend that's been on adderall for years and thinks it's made him a different person (in a bad way), he wishes he could get off, but he can't.

I take Adderall XR, and it is THE BEST FUCKING MEDICATION EVER! I have ADHD, and I avoided taking meds for it (along with meds for my depression and anxiety, which is really PTSD, but that is a different story)

My grades in college went from C-D to A-B. If you NEED it it is very helpful. I can concentrate SOOOOOO much better now. I have been on it for about 1.5 years now, and I wish I had started taking it in high school, my grades would of been much better (the docs tried to put me on meds back then and I told them I wouldn't take it)

Good to hear your results are very positive..due to my past and my BP right now,im not sure if adderral is a good choice for me due to the fact it is mixed salts of amphetamine, however im thinking of giving it a try and monitor my vitals closely...im still giving it some thought,,,i really dont need to take any more fucking pills:).....Z

My daughter has ADHD and ADD combined type and well as ODD and anxiety issues. My beautiful work of art as I like to call her! She isn't on any medication. We are just limiting the amount of sugar she intakes and finding other ways of helping her focus. We keep her very busy and we let her chew on sugar free gum to help her focus. She still has a little bit of trouble sometimes but its usually when she doesn't get enough sleep and is over tired. Sleep is extra important for people with ADHD. they play hard and crash hard!

No it isn't... My daughter has an IQ of 136. Infact I think most times she is to smart for her own good! ADHD is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and ADD is attention deficit disorder, My daughter also has ODD which is Oppossitional defiant disorder. But I love her!

Runs in my family going back three generations. Any amphetamine is going to tax the heart arteries Zerker. You know I know about that. My IQ is in the 130's and my son's is in the 150's but he never did well in school because of the ADD. However, we refused to put him on ritalin or the like because of the possibility of psychosis.

Zerker, you might consider Cymbalta, Effexor or even Modafinil (Provigil).

A simple beta-blocker has done wonders for me. A low dose of a beta blocker won't have any real side effects. Give that a try.

Hey Kuj...oh believe me i know little about amphetamines from personal experience, hence the reason i will not take addrerral or ritalin or any other amphetamine based drug...correct me if im wrong my friend, but isnt Cymbalta a Depression med?..as far as Modafinil a very interesting drug, used for Narcolepsy...at this point man...im just thinking of not using anything for adhd...just ride it out...Z

Different drugs work differently on different people. I found I had less issues with racing thoughts, impulsiveness and attention issues while on Effexor.
It also alleviated most of my mentally induced aches and pains. I'm no longer on Effexor but what I found remarkable was taking a BP beta-blocker med that smoothed me out considerably. Some people take very low doses of Inderal to control their anxieties and physical tensions. See if you can get a 10mg dose of Inderal prescribed and try that out. The other thing of course is mind over matter and keeping a positive outlook. That's hard for some of us to do however without outside help.

is ADHD same wit RETARD?

ROFLMAOO....

And this explains a lot about Zerker..I shouldve put 2 and 2 together..

N e ways..isn't ridellin better on younger adolescents...i don't know if I'm ADD but boy does anxiety make me think it at times

I try to remain positive,,,sometimes the other side creeps over,,,,i cant control it...its the will of the gods.....Z

I've had students on ADHD medications who basically were bouncing off the walls.

my ex took adderall. The extended release shit. she says it made a big difference but has some big sides. no appetite, nervous ticks, etc. and its very addictive...hard to come off of. she would only take it during the school year bc of that.

I would take it from time to time when i would work at night or had to stay up. but only took it if completely necessary bc it fucked me up big time. i dont have add or adhd and i didnt take it regular so i guess the sides were amplified. Had to take at least 2 bc of my size. Those fuckers will definately keep you awake and focused...if you can deal with the sides. used to give me bigtime anxiety, dehydrate me, kill my appetite for like 2 days. worse than staying up all night on cocaine really. (from some of my stupider days). the sides sucked so i tried to avoid it but i would use it if i needed it. with my ex it really helped her grades tho and focus. but like i said she only took it during school. she tried staying on it at first and it got to a point where i didnt even recognize her. she never ate and was so focused she always had to be "doing" sumthing.

Ive always thought I had add also. Ive taken adderall a day or two before a big test to help me study and I did very well. it puts me in the "zone" to study lol. And gave the energy to stay up all night doin it if i had to. It couldnt be healthy to take in the long run though?

Actually I think you will be fine. As far as I know there are no long term sides. I have been on it for years with no problems. I wish I had started taking it earlier, I would of done much better in school.
