I always thought we were to make our meals protein/carb or protein/fats. We never want to make a meal just protein (as in whey in water ) as it will be in turn used for energy rather than muscle growth/repair. Can you just have a protein ONLY meal?

Am I missing something here? Some people at another site say that you don't have to add fats or carbs to a protein meal...

I'm not going to BS ya, I don't know what the reasoning would be behind it. Some just take whey before bed time, I always take protein/fat shake. Whey alone would just get digested to quickly..

I am talking about meals in general like say just chicken breast. No EFA's or carbs with it.

I was told to eat protein ONLY before bed..........but not a shake, I am meaning, egg whites, or chicken breast

Stout, I understand what you are saying. I personally don't agree with it. Although I have tried it I just don't like it. I don't know what real applied science is behind it.
