September, I'll be a dad. First time for me, I'm only 23. And it's a girl!!!! :worried: Kind of nervous. I watch this show, to catch a predator! makes me wanna kill somebody. I'm gonna be protective as fuck over her. Just wondering if any pops out there have any gym advice. I'll hopefully be working law enforcement (BA degree in criminal justice-police) but if not I'll be putting in 12 hour shifts, roofing 6 days a week. Between work and raising a little girl, there's no gym time! That's going to suck. Sounds selfish, but lifting keeps me sane. Do any dads out there still have a gym life??!!

im a daddy of 2, and the one thing that goes more than anything is not money like most think, its time.....your days will feel so short and your life will go fast forward, at least it has for me.....i work out 3 days a week, when i get off work at midnight.....i work the 4-12a shift, my wife works the 8-4p shift, and we dont want anytype of daycare, we want to raise our kids....so we dont see much of eachother...her days off are sat. and sun. mine are wed. and thur..... on the days i train, i get home around 2 and have to be up by 7 to take care of my kids while my wife goes to work....get used to not getting much sleep, especially in the first few months....hopefully your babys momma is supportive of the gym, and will allow you to sleep, if so your lucky.....

whoa good luck friend... My girl is definately not supportive of the gym. She hates it. I feel as if it's an obsession now.I guess 3 days a week can't hurt. I'm just used to the 5 day routine. I'm an insomniac as well. Sleep is tough for me. But hey, I'll be up at night playing with my lil girl. She'll give me something to do i guess when I'm up and can't sleep! Hey COB16. You're fuckin jacked in your avi!! I'd like to stay that big once the gym thing dies down a bit. I don't care much about my looks, I'm more hoping i don't lose intensity and my power and of course, motivation

if i can be honest....i have grown more in the last few years than i did in the first 6 or 7 before i had kids.....i used to kill myself 5 days a week in the gym, now i feel much more rested....i think you will be pleasantly surprised at the kind of growth that can come with only 3 days a week and a lot of recovery time.....by the way, if my wife had it her way, i would stop training and shrivel up or get fat, either one would make her happy.....but i trained when we met, and i will until i no longer wish to....

That's awesome. What's the routine like? Bench off, squat, off, deads,, off off?
My problem is that I like to lift every body part seperate (whole day of delts, whold day of bi's or tri's, bench by itself, etc....) I guess I'll have to just moderate my routines to fit better. Good luck brutha!!

well here wi my routine, just fits me good:
day one
chest, tri's, calves
day two
back, bi's calves
day three
shoulders, traps, legs

the reason i throw legs after shoulder day is because im not very spent after hitting delts, never have been, dont know why...but all i do fo rlegs is hack squats, leg pres, leg ext, leg curls, sldl....that is my longest day, takes me about 45 min for shoulders and traps, and 45 min for legs...the other days takes about an hour for each....the reason i do chest/tris, and back/bisl is because by the time im done with chest my tris only need about 9 hard sets and same with bi's after bacck....and i not lacking in the arm department either, porbably my best bp.....but you will need to see what works for you...

Im 24 and not a dad....and if kids were anything like me I DONT WANT 1 lol. But 2 all that are dads out there and work full time and have a gym life.....I give out much respect cause raising a child isnt an eazy thing i know. Good luck 2 you DaPit ill keep u and your family in my prayers..

When my son was young, I went to a gym with a day care and I checked on him every 10 mins or so.

Im a sigle dad have been for ten years ,raised two kids ,one now goes to virginia tech ,and my son will be going to NC state in the fall,I run my own business and have a gym and personal life ..so it can be done,There are days i have to skip the gym, some time ill only get in two work outs a week ,But there are prioraties when you got kids,I wouldnt trade it for nothin!! :wallbash:

I am a dad too. I have a 4yr old son and another boy due in July. Nothing in the world like being a dad.

looks good. My 2 toughest workouts are actually delts and legs. After a delt session I can barely breath, same with legs. I think it's because my endurance is low so hitting delts I tend to go fast and it's like cardio. That's my only problem. I might start a WSB routine again. I got wicked strength gains from it in the past but not the definition and looks i wanted. Or I was thinking just doing the 3 major lifts and then hitting smaller muscle groups after. IDK, I figure something out. thanks boss, for the re-assurance that there's still a life in the gym after the baby!!! I guess I know a lot of PL'ers that just use the excuse that they don't have time anymore since, for getting fat and lazy.

Congrats! I can't wait, not nervous at all, other than the fact it's a girl...and i know how boys are. Love the avatar!!

I have 3 kids, 2girls 14 and 8 and 1 boy who is 15months. My wife is very supportive of the gym and I have no problem working out. I take them on occasion with me but usually one of my wifes family members, she is hispanic and is from a huge ass family LOL, watches the 2 younger ones when my wife is working or sleeping, she works nights.

What do mean blessed, just because my wife don't mind me going to the gym. It is called not being pussywhipped and telling your wife how it is..LOL

Most gyms I've seen (I live in Cali though) have daycare, limited hours though.

my daughter is one reason I spent cash on my home gym - so I could be home and watch her
