After years of empty talk, Dave Bautista, former WWE standout, will make his mixed martial arts debut. While Bautista had been in talks to debut under the Strikeforce banner, fate dealt the wrestler a different hand. At this point there will be no Strikeforce for Bautista, however he will test his mixed martial arts abilities at un upcoming CES MMA event.

The event will be held at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I.. Bautista?€™s opponent will be fellow MMA neophyte, Rashid Evans. No solid details have been released in regards to a televised broadcast, though breaking reports indicate the event will indeed be aired.

Dave spent time training with Nick Diaz and trainer Cesar Gracie, before recently opening his own Florida gym.

Since parting ways with the WWE in 2010, Bautista has picked up some respectable work in front of cameras. Dave can be seen in The Scorpion King 3, as well as two intriguing pictures slated for release in the not too distant future: the Quentin Tarantino produced hybrid action/horror feature, The Man with the Iron Fists and the forthcoming Chronicles of Riddick film.

He's in his late 30's right? I think he will have a short lived mma career like Brock

I agree it'll be short lived, but it's always cool to see guys that big fighting. I'd like to we him fight Kimbo Slice! Lol

He can't be that big any more if he's the same weight class as Evens. Unless Evens went up in weight?

wow, bad idea, he was constantly hurt in the WWE, whats MMA gonna do to him????

How long will it be before midget MMA?

Give it some time, I'm sure Vince McMahon (WWE) will come up with that soon. I can see Horn Swaggo being the first inductee.

Speaking of which, I wonder if Bautista is completely free of the McMahon's claws or if all of his future and current projects are part of McMahon's Executive production, like most of Dwayne Johnson's and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin movies were.

wow first ive heard of this...yeah if hes fighting evans, then he must have lost a lot of weight....evans isnt that big..
