Does anyone hear NOT use them? I always have, but I am almost out and it'll be a couple weeks before I can afford anymore, and I almost feel guilty not having it and afraid it'll hinder my progress. I mean, it helps with recovery, yes, but would NOT taking it slow down your gains?

I don't use them. I think if you get enough protien, it's kinda pointless. That's just form reading up on what they do for you. I don't think there is a need if your diet is right.

I don't use them, never have. With the amount of protein I eat each day, I doubt I need em' lol..

my diet isnt perfect, so i am incorperating them in my supp regime......im gonna be starting them next week or so.....i just got a 2month supply of them

Irongirl, they are not essential to the average trainer with a high protein intake. But if I was competing......and when I am on cycle and doing intense grueling workouts, I consider them an important supplement.

The only time you need BCAA supplementation is prior to and throughout your workout. The Branch Chain Amino Acids Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine are the aminos most quickly depleted during an intense workout, and the body will cannibalize lean tissue to obtain them. No type of protein, liver tabs, whey, or anything else will deliver enough of these 3 aminos with the speed and efficiency necessary to prevent catabolism. I like Beverly's MUSCLE MASS BCAA's, and they are expensive. I take about 4 before a workout, and 4 tabs every 10 minutes during my workout for a total of 28-32. This halts catabolism enough that I notice a marked decrease in soreness the day after my workout.

If you are competing, taking BCAA is cheap insurance against catabolism and just one more edge on your competition. ;)

irongirl, do'nt fret about it. Get them when you can. Do they help? Hell yeas they help, but it's not going to make a huge difference. I use 5 grams bcaa 4-5 times/day between meals w/ glutamine and creatine. I've seen slight increases in my gains, but what I notice is I'm constantly full and get much better pumps. I also don't get as lethargic throughout the day. Keeps me vascular as well. If you are not dieting hard and are in off season mode eating sufficient calories, a few weeks won't make a difference.
