Today at the end of my workout for back and before i left the gym my bro was there. I decided i wanted to try the combine test. I benched 225 for 21. What do u think my max is?

Today I walked 40 yards in 23.2 seconds, what do you think I could run it in?

The moral to that is, the only way you know your max bench is to actually max out; and the only way I would know what I run the 40 in is to actually do it.

Indeed.

i am scared to max for fear of injury

only if your form sucks should you worry about that.

Besides, who gives a shit how much you can max? 225lbs 21 times is much more impressive to me than 1 rep with 400lbs.

Remember, its not how much you can lift, but how you look when the shirt comes off at the beach!! :D

yea i was bored i did it at the end of back, abs and cardio just cuz i wanted to see where i stand and keep in mind i have not taken a shot in 2 months but i am following my diet to the tee

you can prob do 600lbs raw now

post the vid when you attempt this

lmao!!

but i am like the rest of them.. maxing out is for powerlifters.. if you are into that cool... but i havent maxed out in one year or so.... i just make muscles work...

I think you got the 4 plates killa.
That's a shit-ton of endurance,
I can't see how you don't get the 405.

Bullshit!
I doubt it.

Doing 225lbs 21 times,
I wouldn't be too nervous trying the 405 for 1.
I'm pretty confident you can get it once.

And you should always be in fear of hurting yourself, freak accidents can definitely happen.

I completely ruptured/tore off my right pec maxing @ 445lbs.
We all know 445 isn't a ton,
to the normal person it is .. but to us it's not.
So I classify it as a "freakish accident."
I've been benching for 8 years .. I think my form is OK.

The solution to this disagreement is simple -- crawl up under 405 and see if you can press it. What you used to be able to do, or what someone else can do, or what you think you can do is totally irrelevent. I guarantee you that if JR could bench 405, we would have already read about it in numerous threads!

You probably have the potential to do 405 but you won't be used to the way it feels. my suggestion, to avoid injury, is to start doing a 1 rep about your third set starting at 365 and go up ten pounds a week even if it is negative rep. you'll be doing 4 plates in a month or so without injury, peace out bro.

i was just curious and even if i could do it i would not brag who fucking cares 405 aint that much in the grand scheme of bench

I would do what was said above. Start lighter and increase weight on a single for a few weeks. A marathon set at 225 means absolutely nothing when talking about 1 rep max. That is definately a strong set, that is not what i am saying. And don't put down a clean 405 bench, it is not something 99% of gym goers, gassed or not, will ever accomplish.

Guys, why donesn't everyone give Jr a break? He's a decent guy and has improved dramatically from when I first saw him posting over at I-T some years ago. Sure, some of his posts seem a little goofy, but who's don't?

I like jr too, we just want him to attempt 405 is all :)

ps I can't believe you called him goofy
