Better Call Saul discussion (spoilers)

Things to thing about

A lot of people are thinking that Hector's $5,000 offer was really low, but it wasn't an offer at all. $5,000 was the amount Stacy found in the suitcase and questioned Mike about. It was the money Matty took from the dirty cops. When Hector revealed that he knew Mike was a cop and that they would go easy on him with the gun charge, Mike asked Hector if he was psychic. Hector then responded with the $5,000 figure as a way of saying "I've done my research". Mike is dirty and he knows it.

The scene where Chuck is walking through HHM with a lantern early in the morning is a reference to Diogenes, a Greek philosopher who was said to have walked around with a lantern "in search of an honest man".

What I've been thinking more and more lately that's in store for Kim Wexler...
Kim carries on working her ass off to get out of doc review.
Erin finds a copy of Jimmy's 'Wexler vs HHM' printout still left in the Davis & Main company printer. She gives it to Davis & Main, who give it to HHM.
HHM fire Kim.
Sandpiper's legal team, Schweikart & Cokely, pounce on the chance to tease Kim with a job offer in exchange for information they need to defeat HHM's case against them re: Jimmy's solicitation methods etc etc.
Once Sandpiper defeat HHM, they renege on their promise to hire Kim, burning her bridges and thus ending the career she had worked so hard for.
Kim jumps off the roof of HHM, committing suicide, linking back to her previous comment of 'jump off the roof'.
The trauma and rage of the ordeal is the major driving factor that pushes Jimmy McGill into the Saul we know in BB.

I love how at the start of this scene when the cook was setting out the food they used the same Ding! sound effect from Hector's wheelchair in BB.

One scene that I don't think is getting enough buzz is Jimmy in the bathroom talking to petty with a prior guy (forget his name). I think it really highlights how he used to see the law and how he sees it now at Davis and Main. That guy wouldn't give him the time of day before, but now gushes about how nice Jimmy's job and perks must be while he represents "Scumbags" and would kill his mom for a window. I feel like Jimmy enjoys representing these people who are down on their luck, and because of his past, they're not scumbags to him but just people that need a lawyer. Just another small step on his path that I feel was one of the strongest scenes of the episode.

I wonder if the Salamanca family is going to be the driving force behind Mike working for Gus. Maybe as a way of getting protection from them.

To me the parts about Mike are way more interesting than Jimmy's parts so far, except when they intersect with each other or Jimmy has some interaction with the old BB characters.
I do appreciate your insights though and would love to keep this as a running log throughout the season.
Is your post spoilers or just what you see happening, because you've obviously given this way more thought than me.
First season was very slow, almost unbearable. Second season is gaining momentum. I hope it ends with a bang!

I think the whole world Vince Gilligan has created is great. I think they are building up Jimmy (Saul) for something big. Although, Saul never really gets into the violence end. I am glad Mike is there. He was always a favorite of mine in BB. We will see. I want it to work!

Also there has been "rumors" that Jessie Pinkman will make an appearance on Saul. He kind of kicked the topic around in his Reddit AMA.

Walter White is still just a mild mannered teacher. I do not know the direct link in timeline from when Jimmy becomes Saul and Walter starts cooking. If they DO implement WW into the show I do not see how it will be done. Jessie was cooking before he met Walt already on the grimey side of life.

I will not post like direct spoilers, but just my thoughts on things. HAHA It is hard for me to have a discussion with anyone because I do not have anyone one in my life that watches it so I turn to my internet bros. I over analyze shit too.

Better.....Saul seems right now to show where Jimmy and Saul's identities both mesh and clash. I loved Jimmy yelling at Chuck to come on and roll around in the dirt with him. Jimmy obviously gas some moral ambiguities whereas Chuck, who still has some ambiguities himself, thinks of himself as being above all that.
I wonder what happened to Chucks wife and what role, if any, that played in Chucks phobia/s.

Hopefully she had affair with Jimmy LOL. The show is starting to show Chuck's true colors. I think Chuck is jealous of Jimmy somehow.

Yeah. Chuck busted his butt studying then working his way up the corporate ladder taking years, following all the rules and a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to where he is. Whereas it all seems to come so naturally to Jimmy without any effort, and by bending a rule here or there to accomplish his goals.

very good point!

I like the fact that Hector Salamanca is being fleshed out as a main character. I like that they have those bad ass nephews of hector's in the show. I hated that Hank took them out so fast when they tried to kill him. I think they have a lot of potential. Man those boots with the skulls are cool as shit.

Yeah, love the boots too.
So we're beginning to see how Mike got to wwhere he was in BB.
Kim is beginning to embrace the dark side.
Jimmy seems to finding that he doesn't fit the corporate mold and is more comfortable where he was than where is.

I believe Vince & co have said they're definitely planning more than 3 and have referenced the number 5. I'm expecting around that time for there to be a time shift years forward. Maybe some Breaking Bad era episodes then flip to the future with Saul in Nebraska.
The actors would be the perfect age to play post Breaking Bad versions of their characters. RJ Mitte, Anna Gunn, Odenkirk, Aaron Paul... If we could get like a season of post Breaking Bad shit where for whatever reason Saul comes back to ABQ, or Jesse goes and finds Saul that would be amazing. They're not showing us these post-Breaking Bad teasers of Saul for no reason.

If they did go post BB that would defiantly kick it up a notch. But they're all dead. Jesse is the only one still alive besides Badger and Skinny Pete. Unless Skylar goes back into business for herself.

But is Walt dead? He was shot in the stomach... It NEVER actually confirms dead or not.

Interesting. Mike left a witness to his heist of the ice cream truck.
We know he lives. My guess is he'll offer his services for security as opposed to death if they catch him. This may be how he gets involved in cartel business.

yep!! this is what i was thinking. Maybe thats how he gets in with Gus.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Jimmy becomes Saul then gets in with the cartel. Mike has first contact with both, so he has to be the one to introduce the two to each other.
By the way, I watch Saul on Tuesday because I am in bed when it comes on.

Buf... what did you think about the finale?

Who do you think did that to mikes car? I think Victor.

I have that same rifle mike was using lol...

Well, the stick on the horn and the note saying don't, it had to be his buddy, that came to him originally, I can't remember his name, but Tuco's cousin that wanted Tuco gone.
I'm beginning to see where Jimmy becomes Saul. He'll change his name to prevent any embarrassment to his brother, who with a taped confession from Jimmy will probably try to force him out of practicing law.
The whole things moving very slowly, but I like where it's going.
