Would rather chop wood! A year away from the chitter-chatter has done me well. I embrace quiet, discounting sound other than from activity, and for once in my life feel perfectly intact without others' opinion. Perfect point to start a new training program. Got a hair cut today then ran the motorcycle 90 miles along the river with dry-gas trying to rid the float bowls of moisture. Stopped to pee and got a cod salad but the constant chit-chat around me is unnerving. Cashing in and checking out asap... back up river with the river flowing and the fall rustling casting away the imposing thoughts of neighbors unseen, unwanted and preferably forgotten. What is left at this point? Shut up and lift, Mrhtbd, Winter is coming, just shut up and lift. Truly a blessed moment in time! Now, back to the river-route... dusk is calling... "Check please!"

Most days at work I get so focused I avoid everyone, sometimes to my detriment. But I do have some friends at work. On Tuesday one of them had a birthday. Very smart guy, a Russian physicist turn informaticist. he emailed me to come to his little B-day celebration. I was annoyed at first, so much to do. So he came to my office and basically forced me to come. Turns out it was just his beautiful wife, another Russian, him and myself. He broke out a California red and some chocolate and we talked and debated history and politics for about an hour. It turned out to be the high point of the day. My friend is an ex-Russian boxer. In a way he is the same kind of crazy as me. It's good to find friends that are crazy like you. Everyone is crazy but finding the ones that are crazy like you is essential to happiness and a guard against lonely bitterness filled with thoughts never shared.

I have had many close friends who were a bit crazy, unfortunately the majority are dead. I wish that I was joking but I'm not.

I fall asleep at work a lot. Especially after lunch. My secretary wakes me up when I'm snoring too loud.

Rough ride home that night. Hung out too long. Dark when I left and was starting to rain. Went for my clear glasses for distance but the case was empty. Damn, left the glasses at home; not good. Tried to take a short-cut home but misread a sign and got lost for almost an hour, pelting rain, high 40's, after dark. Autopilot! A rugged outcast? Maybe it's time to join the living. Crazy is welcome at this point...
