Actually Bruce Lee was never in Tae Kwon Do. It's a Korean style martial art. He was a chinese martial artist, studying styles as Gong Fu, Kung Fu, and later he theoried (Designed) the style Jeet Kun Do. The only actual fighting they did (Norris vs. Lee)was in movies, if you gauge what the out come is from movies then you must beleive Nero can fly too then?? (Matrix)

honestly I'm not sure how good lee would do today. Back then it was strait up kung fu, nowadays it's all mixed. He never fought anyone who would take him down to the ground. I'm not saying he wasn't any good but I think the world of fighting has changed so much since his time, you'd have to be well versed in all areas of different styles. Kind of like arnold was the best bodybuilder of his time, He doesn't even compare to anybody of today. Know what I mean?

dapit i agree and disagree with you,, hand to hand combat never changes,,, skill, speed,, over powers strength i may be 3 times the size of bruce lee but wouldnt like i t i would be shity afraid to step in the ring with someone who could attack me while im blinking me eye

Bruce may have been the best at what 'he' did but there's a lot of people in the history of fighting like that. Muhammed Ali was the best at what he did. If you were to pit ali against bruce in a boxing match, bruce would be on his back staring up at the lights. Now put Ali in a NHB match against Royce gracie. Gracie would of broke ali in half (obviously if these fights could have possibly taken place). Strength still plays a huge role as I've learned while taking up MMA about 4 years ago. I wrestled at state tourneys in HS (relying heavily on my strength and obviously technique) I would quickly over power and dominate complete control, but was not very fast at all and lacked skill, still good enough to compete in state comps. I studied Kempo and Akito for the past year and half (my wifes father instructed for 30 years in st. croix). I studied Taekwondo and Tangsoodo for 5 years and boxed silver/golden gloves for 11 years. I then took up a bit of muay thai after getting into MMA, so I'm well versed in all forms of fighting. Wrestling has helped my MMA career more than anything. Since most fights are taken to the ground. My best fight was against a man whom had a black belt in Taekwondo. He got one kick on me and I put him on his back, within seconds i had him in a nice mount, threw a few elbows and that was it. Over in less than 30 seconds. Toe to toe he'd probably kick my ass. It all depends on the style match-ups, rules, situations, etc.... But you can't say that Bruce Lee was undefeatable. I know i would have killed him in a greco roman style wrestling match and he'd make short work of me in a stand up battle, thus being the reason, I'm not sure how Lee would fair up in the world of MMA of today. And all you Bruce fans out there, don't take offense, he is still one of the greatest fighters of all time. it's just that there's always that one guy somewhere that's gonna beat your ass.

i agree there pit. For his time he was boss. He did touch upon the first idea of MMA (a little mix of boxing and grappling) but not nearly as much as fighters today train. His grapple skills wouldn't match gracies. That's why UFC and pride, etc... were created, to mix different form of fighting and seein who was top dog. There's a few good strikers but the game has gone ground and pound. Like you said, he was the best at what he did but under different circumstances, how would he fair. the world will never know. i still wouldn't wanna fight the brotha.

you all have valid points i must agree,, but i have never seen a quicker striker then bruce lee, plus people forget he could put his index finger against a 2by 4 and without moving just thrust his finger through the board,, so i think people forget his power because he is like the size of an umpaloompa compared to tdays fighters,,, grappling he would be destroyed but on his feet i dont think many strikers could defeat him if at all any with pure skill and not the aas they all take today,, imo,, buti respect all your thoughts

i agree. I did see him once do his 'inch punch' thing, through a block of ice. Very amazing. No doubt was he one of the greatest of all time.Too bad he wasn't alive today to see how he'd match up in different sports...mma. His striking ability was the best so if it stayed up, he'd probably kill someone if it went to the ground, he might get a little slappied up. My man , the "italian stallion" woulda wasted 'em. ;)

lol rocky 1 he would have kicked his ass but in rocky 4 if he had to fight the russian i think all of us would have ran out of the ring lol

Too much fight talk.... My head is spinning... :mox:

But I did hear that Jet Li (God I hope I spelled that right) is doing one final movie and then calling it quits.

Which imo, is too bad that guy kicks serious ass too. Remember him from Unleashed, or Lethal Weapon? Oh yeah..

ya he is a lot older than he looks too - I think he wants to out while he can

jet li wanted 30 million for matrix 2 ,, for a 2 minute role lol what a fucking ego he has lol, all his movies crouching tiger hidden dragon,, damn fight scenes so exagerated its pathetic,, flying through trees for 10 minutes and shit lol, hes like jackie chan both want out of the kung fu movies

This is the absolute truth, Pit, I couldn't have stated it better. I sparred w/six different style martial artist before I was ready, I felt, to compete in the Diamond Nationals when I was eighteen to be ready just for point sparring. After winning a national Black Belt title I knew I was fortunate that another older wiser instructor directed me to do this for pre-comp training. The following year I was defeated in the 4rth round of the event by a guy who's style I've never seen.
