cramping

i have a buddy who is prone to muscle cramping naturally, and soon is going to be running some winny which i expect to fuck him up because its known for that sorta of thing sooo are there any supplements you recommend to stop cramping
 
Tell him to eat more bananas & potatoes - both are loaded with potassium. That should do it - if not, tell him to also take in some extra taurine. Obviously he should be drinking a shitload of water also.
 
Quinine helps tremedously, FDA recommends against it as they do a lot of stuff but they also say it stops them by 60%... imagine that shit.. Don't take this because it helps!

One question/comment on bananas as a source of potassium. I used to work in a warehouse where we recieved truckloads of solid green bananas they would then be placed in a chamber to be gassed by methane. The Methane gassing would cause the bananas to yellow in a few days. These bananas were not ripe, just yellow. My question thought is : at what stage do the bananas produce the potasium we all take for granted they have? Is it during ripening, or as they grow. The wharehouse was Safeways, but I have been told it is common practise to gas the under ripe fruit to give the image of ripeness. Just a thought as I too eat plenty of bananas and suffer from muscle cramps( side effect of med's). Oh, and the Methane wasn't very healthy for the odd spider/lizard, or large grasshopper who went through the chamber.

Just some info for you out there who may not know of this practice, as well as a question for those who may know if we are all getting the potassium we believe in bananas . . . I aint no chemist/botanist. Perhaps someone of you knows the answere???
 
are you sure the gas is methane and not ethlyne the hormone that causes fruits to rippen? they use it to rippen crops all at the same time and to promote rippening, also the saying 1 bad apple ruins the bunch because as fruits rippen they release that gas which will also cause the near by fruits to rippen as well
 
You can sea salt some of your meals as well with all the other mentioned here.
 
@ Joe: It was (10 years ago-I remember Methane; and safety protocalls, and airing off times etc); ethylene I don't. Not saying time may not have caused a miss memory. The point I was trying to make is the fruit isn't ripening naturally-it's simply changing color; and that's why the bananas we get are woody, and not as sweet as they were when I was a child( sounding old here ;-) ). I wanted to know if the ripening in the sun is when the fruit gains its potasium, or if it develops in the fruit as it grows on the tree? You seem to have knowledge of the practice, any idea of the answere? Thanks I could not begin to wonder where to find out. I just know I cramp like a son of a bitch at times, take my salts[ potassium, mag, calc]; eat enough bananas to make a elephant choke, and just had a thought I hope one of you people out in the forum might know an answere to??
 
im not sure rippening is a process of growth so when the fruit is taken prematurely from the plant im sure its lower in alot of things that it should have, but also something that are ment to convert in the very last stages of ripening might be higher then they should unless the gas does help convert them to what they are sopost to be, but i have no scientific proof of this when it comes to bananahs cause i havent researched into bananahs so i dont know. but also i know in general almost everything farmed has less nutrients then from a long time ago because the soils are being depeleted of nutrients so back in acient times they could eat half as much and get double the nutrients so depending how old you are there probably is a difference in the food from when you are a child til now not a huge one but a measurable one.
