Only monohydrate will cause the most water retention of any creatine. Mind you taking any creatine supplement will not only increase recovery but muscle endurance and in turn strength in the gym. So creatine is a great supplement to be on for either women or men. What type of creatine to take really depends upon each individual and how his or her body will react to it. But in general any good new pre workout product will give you a few different types of creatine (ethyl ester, Tri-creatine malate, alpha ketoglutarate) along with arginine (3 similar formes) and glutamine + many other performance enhancing agents like B vitamins and beta-alinine.
The ones I have used which work well NaNo Vapour, No-Explode, Expand, & I would say are all good ones for women. But diet will play the biggest role in her bulking. Good luck!
