Dapoxetine: an evidence-based review of its effectiveness in treatment of premature ejaculation
EJ McCarty and WW Dinsmore

Abstract

Premature ejaculation (PE) is a major issue in male sexual health. The global prevalence of PE is estimated to be between 20% and 40%, making it the most common sexual dysfunction in men. PE causes distress and reduced quality of life for patients and has a negative impact on interpersonal relationships. Historically, it has been treated with cognitive therapy, behavioral methods, and off-label use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors usually used to treat depression and other psychological disorders. Dapoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor specifically designed to treat PE. This paper reviews the current evidence for use of dapoxetine in the treatment of PE in adult men. There is substantial evidence that dapoxetine 30 mg or 60 mg taken ?on-demand? results in a significant increase in intravaginal ejaculatory latency time when compared with placebo. Patient-reported outcomes are clearly improved relative to placebo following dapoxetine therapy, indicating greater control over ejaculation, more satisfaction with intercourse, less ejaculation-related distress, and, importantly, significantly reduced interpersonal difficulty. These data were supported by consistent reports of improvement in Clinical Global Impression of change in PE following treatment with dapoxetine. Further studies are needed to evaluate long-term efficacy and health economics. The unique pharmacology of dapoxetine makes it ideal for on-demand dosing, and the clinical evidence shows dapoxetine to be an efficacious and tolerable treatment for lifelong and acquired PE.

Is this strictly for premature ejaculation?
Dammit, sometimes I go on forever. Would be nice if that would help me finish quicker

Was thinking of giving this a try but from what i read, it looks like on average it prolongs ejaculation by only .5 - 3.5 minutes. Not sounding all that spectacular to me. No first hand experience by anyone here?

Try Wellbutrin. Beef Newton was saying how he couldn?t control it when he was on it in another thread.

956vette just said he used it. With viagra. But sounded like he could last as long as he wanted to.

Hey, about Wellbutrin, I think the distinction needs to be made that it NOT be the extended release version, which is the one I have. I think Wellbutrin itself only comes as XR or SR, but the generic Bupropion (or other brand names) may come as regular? It made me so sensitive, it was like I was a teenager again. It was just too much. My ex-girlfriend would put my dick in her mouth, and literally within seconds I had to tell her to slow down or stop a few seconds. It was nice to feel that intensity again, but not so nice when it comes to making sure she was satisfied... but frankly towards the end I didn't give a shit anymore.

I actually ordered some Dapoxetine around the time all of this was going on just for this issue but never tried it. I had an actual doctor prescribe Paroxetine (Paxil) for the problem, but I will never use that stuff again. I have never had such intense irritability and rage issues in my life. It was horrible. I kind of wonder if he got confused and was thinking Dapoxetine but fucked up.

I once had a lady friend tell me that I had premature ejaculation. Premature, according to whom? I said.

That's all my ex was good for... sperm depository. She's got a lot of new customers, now, and has diversified her holdings considerably. Am I jealous? Yea, I'd still love to have an account with her.
