Yea i play guitar scales are scales and alot of the great musicians copy neoclassical stuff. It is great you are starting her at a young age, i had so much with sports going on when i was young. I am 25 and just picked up an instrument and play like 3 hours a day.

This guy is one of the greatest guitar players ever and listen him in the beginning of the video talk about classical music and influences.

Mrhtbd , her learning that will transfer over just by building the neurological connection. The best guitarist I've known have been first piano players. As for violin of viola, don't knock. When I was a kid I wanted to learn them. There was a big Blackfoot indian guy on , either American Bandstand or some similar show, who was playing one with distortion and a crybaby that was wild as hell. Classical training in general will make her excel at whatever instrument and/or genre she pursues. Be happy she's interested at this time. I'm already teaching my daughter of @ 2 years old.
