I?m 45 years old and have been competing in powerlifting for the past 14 years. Many of those have been multi ply. My best totals have come after 41 and I?m on a 4 meet streak of total PRs. Last winter and spring during meet prep I was having knee pain and stiffness for the first time ever. After my meet on April 30th I started doing lunges every day, motivated by Corey G and a good friend of mine/coach who also does them. Today is day 220. At first it sucked. My legs were sore for 3 weeks. By the time month two rolled around I started enjoying them a lot. My knees have never felt better and it?s improved my quality of life tremendously because they have honestly gotten me in better shape being a bigger dude that generally weighs 280-285. I?ll mix it up when I get bored and do them for distance instead of reps, do them for time (2:45 is my best for 100) or I?ll do them with a 20lb chain over my neck. Just sharing my experiences an older dude with high training mileage. Something as simple as 100 daily lunges can have a big impact. Have a great Sunday everyone!
