Going to a buddy’s family farm next weekend to get things ready for deer season. It’s bitter sweet tbh. I’ve always had places to hunt around the small town I grew up in. My buddies farm is about 2 hours away from what I consider home. His dad has cancer bad & may not even make it to deer season, he told my buddy since he won’t be hunting anymore he wanted Wally to take his place. My buddy said his dad cried when he was saying g this. Yes I have places I can hunt that are much closer but not as meaningful.

Hope you bagged some good deer to pack your freezer with fresh venison! Sorry about your friend's dad and hope he hangs in there.

I let a 2x2 & a spiked buck walk away plus 3 does. They were all really young, small deer. The two little bucks came out right in front of me & playfully dropped their heads like theyy were going to fight each other.

The two does came out with a young deer. One of the does made me & blew at me a couple of times. She then circled over to the edge of the wood line I was sitting in. She made her way up the edge of the woods sneaking up on me to get a closer look. Finally after a little while they just walked off back to where they came from.

I had 10 or more turkeys just raising hell in a field behind me. It’s pretty cool hearing them going crazy.

My one buddy shot an 8 pointer. This poor thing was blind in one eye, had a wound where the left shoulder met its body that was just full of infection. It looked like someone shot him with a 22 lr & caused the wound. Last but definitely not least this poor deer had a broad head broke off in its skull!! My buddy is getting a shoulder mount including the broad head. Crazy that this deer survived that!

Finally my buddies dad couldn’t make it to camp. Hospice came bye & weighed him, he’s at 108#’s. In all honesty there’s not much more I can say it needs to be said about that. :-(

Thank you for asking gentleman. I appreciate it.

Nice you could also have had a turkey dinner! Thanks for the update.
