I was doing heavy straight bar shrugs, and like an idiot I had an over/under grip. My left hand was under leaving my bicep open. My 3rd set I lifted it out and after my second rep right at the bottom I felt 3 significant tugs, like something was coming apart at the very bottom to my mid bicep. I racked it immediately and felt soreness like I just poked my bicep with 3cc's.

I layed off training for a week or so because it was uncomfortable. It only hurts when I strain it a bit. Steering my truck could trigger it but it's not real painful, just uncomfortable.

I still feel a bit of tightness and sore when I flex, it never turned black and blue either. Ive seen some bad muscle tears, I'm assuming its a lower grade tear, might have torn some fibers but the fascia hasn't been compromised....thoughts? and how long should I lay off ???

it sounds like a mild tear bro, try doing some stretching with it then try flexing it...if theres no pain, then move on to a real light weight curls on that arm .....if there is pain when just flexing, then obviously you prob. need another two weeks or so for it to continue healing.

sounds very mild especially since there was no bruising......how does it look visually, relaxed and flexed?

yeah, probably a mild strain which is just a minor tear....Had you done major damage that thing would be black and blue up to your delt......Ive seen a guy tear his bicep completely doing deads......It was just sick.....It vanished and rolled up under his delt....

Looks completely normal, seems a bit harder/tighter than usual in the area, other than that nothing out of the ordinary

Yeah, that happened with a friend of mine, another tore his quad and it rolled up high, looked sick. Same with another friend that tore his pec, ironically, its been a few years since its healed, it actually looks better than his other pec...looks fuller at the top..

I wanted to train my back last night but I was afraid the pulling movements wouldn't be a good idea. i tried kettle bells on Sunday and the downward force was making it uncomfortable. i guess I'll just have to limit my self until I fell nothing at all.
