Anybody know of some good digi cams. I am thinking about suprising my g/f with one for x-mas

I got my gal a Canon about 1 year ago. I'm very happy with the quality and performance. I also got the portable printer. Does real good when your at fam houses and you want to print them a pic on the spot. I got the Canon because if the cam was broke the printer will work with any printer vise versa. I'll get the model number tonight if you want it.

sure i'd like to take a look at it. She has a crappy kodak one righ tnow that doesn't take pics worth a damn

That was probabily the same cam I was looking at originaly. Didn't get because the software and printer were only compatible with that model. I like the quality of the Canon i'll get you that info tonight when I get home.

Matt don't get caught up in the more pixels the better the picture. I've seen cameras with 2 mega pixels that took a better pic than one with 4.

I'm going to scan Nov issue of Consumer Report that rates the digital cameras and post it.

Ok Matt here's probably more info on digital cameras than you ever wanted to know. lol

I tried to make the type easy to read I hope I didn't leave it too large.

damn there are so many freaking options it is crazy haha

Here is the list i'm trying to decide between:
Canon PowerShot A630 will try to get on ebay
Canon PowerShot A620 can get it for around 135total
Canon PowerShot SD500 160total
Casio EXZ750 175
Sony Cybershot DSC-W50

I really think the powershots look cool and I like the feature to them. I did however, read their outdoor quality might be low:(

i'm leaning towards getting the A620. That way I can get a memory card too

I don't think you can go wrong with a Canon.

4 the $ i think ur right

my dad acutally went out & gota nikon 500$ or so & the thing is amazin....*ill get the details 2marrow* but this thing is just great, but 500$ is alot of mooola
but consumer reports & theres a few other review sites, review. com etc that r really good & can def b helpfull:sheep:

The thing about spending a lot of money on a camera is do you really need all the bells and whistles. I mean unless you're really going to get into photography seriously or as a business, you can get everything you need in a camera for under $300.

Chances are a better and cheaper camera will come along in a year or 2 and you'll want to buy it. So my thinking is get one that will take a good pic and spend a reasonable amount on it.

You don't want to look back in 6 years and see you have 3 cameras in your closet that you paid $500 each and think damn that's $1500 sitting there.
You could've still bought new cameras for an average price of $250 and still have $750 more in your bank account.

Believe me everything advances fast with these items what cost $500 today you can buy in a couple of years for under $300. Prices fall and the products gets better over time.
