I've been training for a raw PL meet this weekend in Orlando. I had a decent shot at placing very high up.
Now I've got pneumonia.
I've been sick since Thursday, throwing up, coughing up crud, sneezing, runny nose etc. Went from 283lbs last Wednesday morning to 268 this am. I've been out of work since Thursday, so I went in this morning, feeling like crap, but I'm old school when it comes to work, you just don't miss work unless your dead or dying.
I was talking to my boss seeing where all of my projects were at, started coughing and got choked by stuff I was coughing up and wound up puking in the bosses garbage can.
I was told to go to the Dr or I was fired in a very nice way.
SO, here I am at home. PL meet is out for me. I'm really sick now. I was going to kick some old man, senior citizen butt!
But now I'm just like :nonono2:

Did u get an X-ray pneumonia is nothing to mess around with at your age. Start the meds right away

On a positive note my abs are popping!

Sorry to hear this. I know you are dissappointed about training for so long only to seemingly have it robbed from you right before an important meet.
When I had pnuemonia in 8th grade (back in the 1970's) they had me lay across my bed with my upper body hanging off and leaning down. Then they had me cough and spit the shit out into a trash can.
Really gross but the angle and gravity really helped get the stuff out from deep wherever it was.
Trying to cough and clear standing up involves the diaphram too much and may be a reason why you are puking. Just a thought.
Hope you feel better.
I'm really disappointed you let us old guys down who were rooting for you to kick ass, but, hey, having abs showing has gotta be nice!
Take care and rest!
And, hey, you can be sick here but we still won't fire you!!

Once over 40, the strength may be there, but the body no longer has the recuperative power of a 20 year old. Just take it easy and get well my friend. Prayers going your way right now.

About 20 years ago, a good friend of mine was out deer hunting down by the river in mid-winter in cold damp weather, and had an asthma attack, collapsed and fell out of his tree stand. By the time they found him and rushed him to the hospital, he had advanced pneumonia, and they removed most of one of his lungs (collapsed lung). He was an old school biker/lifter and was back laying carpets and using a knee kicker in a couple of weeks. He told me chewing up cloves of RAW garlic did more to clear up his lung congestion than all the antibiotics he was on. ;)

This is what I was telling Bateman yesterday. MAybe you had straight up pneumonia, maybe it was the flu that led to pneumonia. but i have seen a lot of cases of pneumonia, sinusitis, and otitis anteceded by the flu and cold. This virus damamges a havoc on your respiratory tract and then the bacterias are ready to have a party. If i have something important coming up where i cant afford to be sick, i start my antibiotics.
He thought i was talking out my ass.

Get well soon big guy. And to have "abs" at 268 @ 5'7 - well thats damn near unbelievable  wow!

Man that really sucks man!
I HATE Phneumonia.
I had it 2 times i think. possibly 3. I only really remember the one time i got it .. I was passing out and ended up in the ER with mom.
I didnt know I had it at the time so my mom and I where FREAKED out!
I needed to take it easy for a couple weeks.

Hope you get well soon man!

Phneumonia is some serious shit when we get up in years, I hate you missed your PL meet but there's always next time.. Just need to make sure you'll live to fight another day!

Yes x-rays. Showed fluid build up in left lung. My rib cage area on that side was very sore and felt like a stabbing pain when I coughed.
Dr wanted to admit me but knew I would refuse so he gave me a few shots and some scripts and told me to go home to die.
