CROCK OF SHIT... THIS IS ANOTHA VICTIM OF THA SYSTEM... HAHAH HOPE HE DIES SLOW AND PAINFUL

RICHMOND, Va. — Attorneys for John Allen Muhammad released a May 2008 letter on Wednesday in which the mastermind of the deadly 2002 sniper attacks in the Washington, D.C., area proclaims his innocence.

The rambling, handwritten letter was made available because of requests for a statement from Muhammad, his attorneys wrote on the Web page of their law firm. The letter was filed in federal court in connection with Muhammad's unsuccessful attempt to block his execution, the attorneys said.

Muhammad, 48, is scheduled to die by injection on Nov. 10 at a Virginia prison.

In the letter dated May 8, 2008, and rife with misspellings, Muhammad writes of discussions with a new team of attorneys and of assurances that "exculpatory evidence" that he claims was withheld from his trial "will prove my innocent and what really happen ...."

The letter adds: "So all you police and prosecutors can stand-down-'rushing' to murder this innocent black man for something he nor his son (Lee) had nothing to do with ...."

Lee Boyd Malvo was Muhammad's teenage accomplice, who is serving a life sentence. Muhammad fostered a father-son relationship with Malvo but the two were not related.

Jonathan Sheldon, one of Muhammad's attorneys, wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press that the letter has been filed in U.S. District Court since May 2008. "It just had not come to public attention, like much of our filings," he wrote.

The letter, written under the heading "Attorney Client Privilege," was apparently filed during an attempt by lawyers to spare Muhammad from the death penalty.

In their filing, the lawyers said Muhammad was regularly whipped with hose pipes and electrical cords and beaten with hammers and sticks by family members during a brutal childhood.

Muhammad was convicted of killing Dean Harold Meyers at a Manassas, Va., gas station during a three-week spree that killed 10 in October 2002. The killings happened in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, Muhammad's attorneys asked the U.S. Supreme Court to stop his execution.

Muhammad's lawyers also have asked Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine for clemency, saying Muhammad is mentally ill and should not be executed.

The intravenous injection is usually a sequence of drugs given in a set sequence, designed to first induce unconsciousness followed by death through paralysis of respiratory muscles and/or by cardiac arrest through depolarization of cardiac muscle cells. The execution of the condemned in most states involves three separate injections (in sequential order):

1. Sodium thiopental: ultra-short action barbiturate, an anaesthetic agent capable of rendering the offender unconscious in a few seconds.
2. Pancuronium: non-depolarizing muscle relaxant, causes complete, fast and sustained paralysis of the skeletal striated muscles, including the diaphragm and the rest of the respiratory muscles; this would eventually cause death by asphyxiation.
3. Potassium chloride: stops the heart, and thus causes death by cardiac arrest.

yea lol...y?

must be pretty crazy knowing you only have 5 days to live

The claim of mental illness is just being used in a pitiful attempt to save the worthless fuck's life. IMO sociopaths like him deserve death.

Lethal injection takes too long.
A firing squad is what he deserves.

Sniper victim's dad feels no closure

Even after seven years, there's no coping, no closure, and certainly no forgetting the life and tragic death of Linda Franklin, one of 10 victims in the 2002 three-state sniper murder spree.

"You don't ever get over losing a child. It's not the way things are supposed to work," said Franklin's father, Charles Moore, on Monday from his home in Gainesville. "I had a fine daughter and she was murdered by someone that got life without parole. He should have been condemned to death. The man that trained him is dying (today)."

Moore said neither of those punishments match the crimes.

Linda Franklin moved with her family to Gainesville in 1970 when she was 15 years old. She graduated from Buchholz High School and then the University of Florida with a degree in education. She taught abroad with the U.S. Defense Department in places such as Germany, South America and Japan before settling in Virginia to raise her two children with her husband, Ted Franklin. She worked as an analyst with the FBI.

Linda Franklin was 47 years old when she was shot and killed by Lee Boyd Malvo in a store parking lot in Virgina while her husband stood nearby loading the car.

Malvo was 17 years old when he killed Franklin and was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.

John Allen Muhammad, who organized and carried out the murder spree, is sentenced to die today in Virginia by lethal injection.

"He'll go to sleep," Moore said. "I think without any newspapers present, any show at all, he should have been taken out to a vacant field and had his brains blown out. That's the way he killed, that's the way he ought to die."

But it's not that simple, Moore acknowledges, saying he doesn't believe in the death penalty because he has lost faith in the justice system's ability to ensure innocent people don't go to jail.

Moore, 80, said he is not attending the execution.

He did travel to Virginia for Malvo's trial seven years ago, but he only made it to day two.

"He was just like a high school child, and it just didn't fit. The way he was dressed, the way he was treated. How they patted him on the back. It just made me mad," Moore said.

So he left.

Linda Franklin's two adult children are doing well, Moore said.

Her son, Tom Belvin, is serving his third military tour in Afghanistan with the U.S. Army, and her daughter, Katie Hannum, is working as staff in the FBI building in Washington, D.C.

Moore lost his wife, MaryAnn Reno Moore, to cancer six months after his daughter was killed by the sniper.

Moore said he has written three books - all fiction - and that he had sent half of his latest book to Franklin to edit before she died, calling on her expertise with the FBI.

"'Dad, it really is fiction,' is what she told me," Moore said laughing. "She was a precious child ... she called almost every day.

"Sometimes what you have to write is fiction because the truth would scare people to death," Moore said.

It makes no difference if his death brings no closure.. The bastard needs to be taken out of this world. Period.
