Glucose meters

Does anyone know of an effective glucose monitor which they can recommend? I need to keep an eye on it as I’m planning to be running a low dose gh.

My blood sugar is crazy high. Fasted glucose on two blood draws this year were 104 and 132. I might have a problem. Going to pull blood again this weekend before I see my doctor next week to discuss.

Dexcom 7 is a good one.

Dexcom is a (CGM) continuous glucose meter which requires a prescription. I had the Dexcom G7 and it was a piece of shit!! Poorly tested prior to release. Do not recommend it for anyone looking for extreme accuracy. I went back to the G6.

As for regular meters I also use the One Touch which is a good meter. Walmart has meters too that are good and well priced.

And yes your waking blood sugars should ideally be under 90mg/dl

DrX, yeah I’m looking for a portable meter. I misspoke with monitor in my post.

I will take a look at one touch. Is there more than one model?

I have a carb heavy diet (~375-400g/day) and was fasted overnight for about 8 hours. It has been years since I’ve had bloodwork done. It took me by surprise so I want to keep an eye on it.

Any of the CGMs will more than suit your needs. they'll also be pricey without Rx. Hell, they're a bit pricey with.

But if you want to go cheap, you can still do just fine with a CVS blood sugar meter. They're kinda shitty, they don't work if your finger is cold (grumble...) but if you can get the info you need spot checking a handful of times a day, you're good to go. You get what you pay for, but they do still work.

I use a non-continuous glucose monitor (diabetic). I can recommend ascensia next. Easy to use the strips, lots of features. It ans accu-chek are top brands, but accu-chek strips are more expensive though the meter is easy enough to use.
