THe doc. thinks I have may be suffering from it. I have to wait for my bloodwork to come back to check my uric acid levels. SHit is painful in my right big toe and has been bothering me for a couple months now but thought I just stubbed it or something. The pain got really bad and my wife diagnosed me but sent me to the doc to make sure and get a RX for it. ANyone suffer from gout and any tricks to pain relief? Thanks.

Big toe and elbow are the most common places for it to form. Be sure to drink plenty of water to flush out the uric acid. Vitamin C and dairy products may have protective properties; and the elimination of high purine foods may help too.

Keep the diet low in fat especially avoid organ meats and other high purine foods as MR. BMJ said.

BSD, look it up on wikipedia, there's a whole list of foods to avoid.
NSAIDs like Naproxen or Diclofenac can offer relief, as can fish oils but it's eliminating the cause that's the best way forward.

Had it in my big toes a few years ago. Hurts like a Mother doesn't it? For me it was eating several pounds of red meat every day. I never cared how much fat it contained. I was just hungry.
