Goldengirl here, 20 year old reppin southern Ontario - call me Julie!
Been low key in the fitness game since I was young - picked up martial arts and horse riding at age 10. Ended up doing a bunch of competitions and earned my black belt 6 years later. However I was getting really serious with horses so I had to choose between the two... (I chose the horses)
Wasn't really one of those super skinny girls in high school - kinda fell in love with Jillian Michaels and went through a bunch of her DVD's and then found a use for my muscle and ended up playing on the varsity rugby team as a lock/8 man and spending a lot of extra time in the school's weight room, managing a couple of the sports teams, and guest volunteer teaching for the younger girls' gym classes.
Ended up being really good buddies with a group of powerlifters - they used to shit on me for training a la bodybuilder, but let me tell you that 4/5 have converted
A really good family friend of mine growing up was a natty figure competitor, and she ended up being a big resource for me in terms of learning about diet, macros, etc when I started getting serious, about 4 years ago. From there DLB caught my eye, and I decided to put my muscle mass to good use.
In terms of nutrition and workouts and stuff, I've done a large portion of my research myself. I'm pretty lucky to be with a guy (one of my high school weight room buddies, too... who would've thought) who is also super educated in terms of steroids and also has pretty solid connections so between the two of us, I think we've got all bases covered.
He's hoping to compete in BB next year, and I'm hoping if I don't end up breaking through to the pro equestrian ranks I have my goals set to be competing physique in 2017.
I apologize for the essay! I love hearing people's opinions and experiences cause knowledge is power
when I'm not at the gym, I'm usually: at the barn, making food, sleeping, watching top gear, watching BB documentaries on youtube...
