How do I start over?

I went into a pawn shop today, while on an errand of fixing the leaking faucet for our outside hose connection (yes, I'm still fixing the house).
I saw things that in a past life I may want, but in my desired future life, want nothing to do with. Then I saw a picture that I thought would go great on the old pine panelling of my new place, a picture of two dogs, Brittany Spaniels, and a man shooting a shotgun at some geese. The dogs were poised and ready to retrieve. It was at least 30 years old by the stain of the old varnish. It made me think of my father, who had a Brittany Spaniel once, and the hunting heritage from him I wasn't able to inherit because of the early loss of my mother and brother in a fire.

I didn't buy the picture, mainly because the mortgage person said, "Try to get as much money as possible in your account by Thanksgiving."
As I looked at it, and pondered my new life, I wondered how one starts over? I know we carry many things along with us, but this time I just want to throw all that stuff into the new garage and start over with a man cave which expresses the man I see myself as and would want to be regardless of opinion or adhering to any predisposed standard.

I'm 53 and starting over. It's a true blessing and great opportunity. My job is secure and I make plenty of money, but I've always lived vicariously through other people, so this move is a bit intimidating. For once in my life I won't have to worry about making anyone happy, I'll just be responsible for being happy myself.

We won't close on the new/old house until Dec 7th, and I'm wrapping up loose ends in the meantime, but the question looms, just how do I start over?

Old man "mrhtbd" .....I have started over several times back in the day ......For me I load the Harley in the truck , my vette and tool boxes on the trailor and my guns and clothes in the back seat of the truck and Vios Condios my fellas,,,Im outa there and starting over.

My Mama once told me ........
"Son you have to make yourself happy before you can make others happy"

Good luck on whichever path you choose to take old fella ......

^^Right there it is! ^^ BT Your mother sounds a lot like mine! And same for me when I moved on I just gathered my shit and hit the trail and when you least expect it you'll be getting layed again then not only will your heart harden (yet heal) but you'll be a new man too!

Find yourself first, then be yourself after you find someone.
Until then, self love is in order.
