What's the scoop with this stuff? My doctor prescribed it for me and I've already got a wicked headache. How can I keep my potassium up and what else should I stay aware of?
PS: I am not taking any steriods, this is for blood pressure.

Hydrochlorothiazide is a non potassium sparing diuretic. Depending on your dosage, you may need a prescription potassium supplement. you need to inform your doctor of the headaches. It's important to get labs to check electrolyte's while your on this stuff. You yourself cannot monitor or self regulate potassium while you are on this medication. Too much potassium can kill you and not enough can kill you.
