Not asking for sympathy here, this is for those who ride or who know people that do and anyone else.

Every Saturday night about 70-85 of us (Crotch rockets) sometimes 100, get together at "The Lot" located in Clearwater FL on US19. We hang out for a bit and then go ride or stunt (wheelies, stoppies, etc...) around the Clearwater, St. Pete and Ybor (Tampa).

We always ride the same route in case some people speed up (like me) or the one's that are cruising meet up with everyone in the end. Well as we went on the bridge (Clearwater) about 15 of us decided to punch it, next thing I know my tach reads 183mph :ahhh:

Everything was fine until the end of the bridge, a dipping curve comes up(driven on it numeroust times too) and for some reason today (don't know why) I fuck it up at 100mph, should of been doing 85mph. Of course I have to slow down, but I did it so abruptly that made my front squirm and that's when I decided to do 2 things:

1. Dip the bike more and be ready to slide off the curve on cement.

2. Steer the bike into a highway ditch (Grassy one, thank god) and fall down.

Well I chose #2; it was so sudden that I never knew that our mind could react so fast. Meaning that I obviously knew that the grassy ditch would be a softer landing. My bike flipped once, I dragged for about 20 yards and missed a tree, head hit the ground twice, and I llived :)

What makes me so mad is that I would do this to myself, better yet, to my family and loved ones. I have so much going for me that what I did tonight shows where my priorities are. My bike has around $300 of damage, not bad considering what happened to it, frame sliders saved them a bit.

All the work that I've done on that bike, Yoshimura EMS, front/rear sprockets, full exhaust(Yoshi), steel brake lines and rotors, Scotts damper, and some other accessories. To know that all this could be over in a matter of a second is scary enough that I don't ever do this again, to be speeding that fast.

Sorry for making this so long, but I just want everyone to know that we all take things for granted in life, and to know that all this could be over in a matter of a second, is fucking scary to me. I'll post some pics up on here in the next few days to show.

P.S

I know when I wake up tomorrow, I will be really sore:)

glad your ok bro--atleast you lived to learn this lesson --alot dont

be safe brother

You kids and your bikes :D

Good to see your okay, kid. Be careful next time, kid. I tried to call you kid as many times as I could in this thread. Take care, kid!

YOu know Rado.....I had many friends die on bikes...thats why I sold mine.....guy who bought it died 2 weeks later on it.....All I will tell you your very lucky.....and going 180 is stupid....learn your lesson bro.....respect your life...

Glad you`re OK dude.
A buddy of mine was doing wheelies on a chopper and hit a car broadside.

Now he talks funny and rides a 10 speed bike....brain damage.

Not flaming, but remember this incident for future referance bro,you were freakin` lucky.

A kid here was cut in half when he T-boned a sedan... he was only doing 40mph.
You never know what is gonna happen' when you leave the seat... I just know it rarely comes out good.
Consider this a warning from the BIG MAN upstairs... bring it down a notch or two.
Glad you are alive... bro.
ps... ride fast women... not fast bikes. It doesn't hurt near as bad when you fall off!

Damn Rado, play it abit safe won't ya? People need ya around to have someone to tease with... if it weren't for you, we wouldn't have anybody to laugh at!  :D

So glad you are OK!! I love bikes to look at them, but I too have had close calls riding with others...sorry for those of you who have lost loved ones.

glad to hear your doing good bro... i had a 95 cbr 900 about 5 years ago, was my first bike and my last... had it for six months and laid it down 3 times... i just knew i would kill myself, or someone would kill me on it...they are fun, but dangerous as hell.... keep it safe bro... i know if its in your blood you need the bike, just be safe and watch for the stupid drivers who dont look for bikes....

ALWAYS wear a helmet.
If you're gonna be riding silly wear full race leathers.
NEVER let your mind wander.
After 28 years and 300,000+ miles on bikes, I won't get on one without a helmet.
My last wreck, broke my collar bone, I would've been crippled if not for my full race gear. BTW it was another dumbass RIDER that pulled in front of me. AND it happened at less than 30 mph!!!
I hope you know that stoppies are the fastest way to ride in an ambulance (I know 14 guys who've fucked up this way, I don't do them).
Now I'm married and have kids, no more sport bikes for me. DAMN!
KEEP YOUR RACING FOR THE TRACK and you'll live a lot longer man...

thanks to all of you;)

I feel a bit better today.

The ironic part was that on Saturday, I had decided not to wear a full suit, hot as hell and humid. Glad I had my glvoes on though.....

Mark-b..........you're a funny kid :D thanks

i cant sit here and lecture you about it cuz im just as guilty, ive wrecked my bike, and drove my vette threw a brick wall at 70mph. Im just glad to see your ok, my old boss was killed on his harley in november. A lady in a suburban couldnt see him in the sunlight and ran him over in the turn lane doing 60mph, never even touched her brakes. be safe

your crazy rado! nuts to be going 180. if i ever owned a bike i would do the same thing, so thats why i will never own one one. glad to hear your ok.

I feel much better today, still sore from hips, shoulders and knee:)

I know what I did was stupid and that wont ever happen again.

As I was saying in another thread:

Glad you're okay bro! Damn!

Freak sounds bad! Had an accident 2 years ago doing 30mph on my old bike, a lady in a toyota echo...the ones that look like a BBQ changed lanes and hit me that hard i ended up on her roof, then bounced off onto the bonnet of the car in the next lane (not oncoming thank god) bounced off that onto the road and slid for about 20meters. I crawled to the footpath and continued bleeding while I swore at the lady....who typically denied the whole thing. All I could think about while bouncing around from car to car was the next car that I was gonna land on or was gonna hit me was gonna end my life "Damn this is gonna hurt....this is gonna hurt!!" I thought!
A few grazes and bruises, but unlike you, I wasn't wearing my gloves. Ironic thing is that I was on the way to buy gloves because someone had swiped them at the gym the night before. I had half the skin on my fingers ripped off from when I was sliding around on the road....the worst thing was I couldn't train for 6months! Someone upstais was looking out for me bro! It coulda been much worse!

All I can say is ride safe and don't ever forget all the money you spent on gear to make you look like that, all the time and effort to get you that big! All wasted! hahahaha Seriously bro makes you realise how valuable life is, how hard you work to get where you are now, all the effort, love and money your parents spent to raise you up, all that can be wasted away in a flash. That thought keeps me alive bro.

Ride Safe and stay upright!
