Ok, confession.

I have only done stiff leg dead lifts until recently.

I just started to add them into my back routine, and I must admit, I LURVE them.

Can't wait till I go into a mass building training period, so I can start going HEAVY again :)

Ladies,

Are you dead-lifting (I know some are of course as they are strongwomen)?

What are you lifting?

I am doing high volume training mostly right now, so usually 4 sets, reps are 12-25, usually closer to 20, so not going particularly heavy.

Also can't afford to take any time off for any twinges, pains or injuries, so again with the lower weight, high volume.

I am doing my working sets with 60 kg (132 lbs), 4 sets of 15 reps, one warm up on 20 or 30 kg.

I don't go heavy anymore. Well, for me it was heavy, about 175lbs.

i stopped doing them real easy to fuck urself up with bad form

lol i fucked my back up today i am on vikes right now.

I have been having that great feeling all day today, that slight ache, slightly heavy feeling :)

So cool, right now I am working with a locum in our lab, and he is orginally from Florida, has been in the army and he used to train a lot (he is inspired to get back into it).

He gets where I am coming from, just laughs.

I am really loving the accent and I wonder if any of you lads sound like him (there are times I don't understand him though :))

I've always done RDL's and I think they are a great exercise...

I recently in my last cycle added conventional deads and I think they are going to definitely be a staple from now on, maxed at 230, not bad for only having done it 2 times before that....

this cycle i'm doing partial deads in my back routine...

next cycle i'll pull from the floor on my leg day, you always feel it in your glutes/hammies the next day!

I like deads personally. Its good mornings that I HATE

Love Good Mornings too!

Nice thing about being a girl, is that you don't have to be all macho in the gym, so doing lighter weight, perfect form till you build up strength is not an ego issue.

I must admit I do get a kick out of noticing that I am lifting the same, or more than some of the guys in the gym :)

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE deadlifts! I start with 8 reps, and work my way up to heavy singles. (I'm a powerlifter, lol). Then I either hit a variation of good mornings or my second love.........ZERCHER SQUATS

If you use proper form, your back will be ok. And if you're lifting big, wear a belt.

And third, Vikes are weak, Percs are where it's at :D

I hate deadlifts but I do them anyway. I just did them 2 days ago after having a month off from weights. OUCH!!!

What are zercher squats?

At least once a year I like to do a synthesis of bodybuilding and powerlifting, so work from about 10 reps down to sets of 4-6.

It was doing this when I realised how important it is to keep a training journal.

I found my old 'heavy training' and I am using the same weight now during high volume comp diet training!

What is your max dead lift Shawty?

335, going for 400 at the end of the year if I can get the issue with my left hand straightened out.....

Zercher Squats.....

Ed Zercher (a powerlifter) originated them. He did not have a squat rack, so what he actually did was put the bar on the floor as if he was going to do deadlifts, and he would squat all the way down, place the bar in the crooks of his arms and squat it that way. Most these days just pick the bar up from a low setting on the power rack. It works all the deadlift muscles. It's a form of specialty training that alot of the Westsiders use to train for deadlifts. They're AMAZING, and I've found them to help with explosion from the floor when doing deadlifts. In fact, I NEVER do speed work on deadlifts but have awesome explosion.

Deadlifts are sooo beneficial its just all about proper form and you wont get injured!

I love deadlifts
