Turns out Joe weider died this morning. He was a definite figure in the building of bodybuilding as we know it today. He will be missed but remembered always with his passion and achievements for the sport. R.I.P.

I didnt know Sonbaty died? Wow.

Joe Weider was certainly a big name and a great support if not The supporter of this sport.

In heaven we're all huge. At least as to your liking.

A reminder to us all we are not getting any younger.
If you ever had a desire... or a DREAM UNFILLED...
RIP Joe, I will always relish your anabolic megapaks, they were the shit, and I will take that to the grave!
MY BROTHER IN IRON!

Yes Sir he sure is, I posted about this yesterday.. The link is on here somewhere..

Joe was the grandaddy of bodybuilding! Without him bodybuilding might have never gotten off the ground. Like Hank said, Joe spotted a young Arnold competing over in Austria, and brought him over here, where he sponsored him for the next several years. R.I.P. Joe and thanks for all you accomplished!

Ehh that video was made before he passed - still some good stories from the pros whom Joe helped over the years.

Very sad day for bodybuilding. Weider really should be looked at bringing bodybuilding into main stream. He accomplished a lot. RIP

TTT! Damn no more RIP's for Joe? If not for this guy, we probably wouldn't have had Arnold. And if not for Arnold, we might all be pumping iron in a basement. Give some respect meatheadz!

I'll give another one. As mrhtbd said anabolic mega packs were the thing. I lived and ate and breathed what joe weider said and always had my copy of muscle fitness. The 80's were high times for this sport. Joe and Ben's dream was mostly realized but they did want to take BB to the Olympics. It's a huge loss to all who know this sport. He and Ben brought this game to the public eye. They raised up many champions and I'm sure they will both be remembered as the Fathers of this great sport that we on here all love so much !!!

Amen brutha! :igok: JB and I used to joke about all the great-tasting protein powders back in the day, and Weiders 90% Plus Protein powder was one of them. Man, I lived on that stuff! Still remember it was $7.95 for a can. Talk about nasty - stuff tasted like chalk. These younger guys nowdays or of past 10-15 years don't realize how good they got it with all these awesome tasting protein drinks haha. Don't know if your old enuff to remember Muscle Builder mag - that was before they changed to Muscle & Fitness. It was much more hardcore and geared purely for bodybuilding - alot of training articles on Arnie, Robby, Lou, Mentzer, Zane, etc.

We are lucky bro...we glimpsed the beginning of this great sport. Well maybe not Charles Atlas but close enough anyway. I think the best legacy Joe left is that having a fit body is within the reach of some hard and fun work. I get such a rush out of seeing a 60 or 70 year old built like a tank. This is the greatest sport cause there's no need to stop ... Ever
