Apparently he passed today. Had some heart issues over the last few years. Not sure exactly what caused the death, its just starting to pop up across social media. He was a really good dude, very highly regarded in the industry. Ill look forward to Fouad Abiad maybe doing a podcast special on him eventually. They were pretty tight and Fouad credits him alot with his diet and training mentorship during his career. I liked watching his training videos too, really really smart dude. RIP

Not exactly sure cause of death?????

Don’t be ignorant…..you can’t use gear and be that big…..

John Meadows reportedly passed away at the age of 49. He died in his sleep on Sunday, August 8, 2021. At the time of writing, the exact cause of his death has not been announced. John Meadows is a former IFBB professional bodybuilder and well known trainer. Most recently, he trained IFBB professional bodybuilder Shaun Clarida before winning the 2020 Olympia 212 Championship.

Several sources close to him have reported the news to Generation Steel, but currently neither his family nor John Meadows? official social media page or website has made an official announcement.

John Meadows is a bodybuilder and in the early days of his involvement in this sport, he suffered from a rare colon disease that nearly killed him. Eventually, he broke his colon and was rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, he survived and, after several months of recovery, he returned to the bodybuilding industry and did what he loved to do.

Despite these major health issues, he still has an IFBB Pro card.

His past health has given him a different perspective on bodybuilding and life. His goal has become to continue to pay attention to his health in a way that many people do not. After retiring from competitive bodybuilding, he continued to serve as a nutritionist and trainer. He has trained many bodybuilders throughout his career. In particular, he recently coached Sean Clarida in 2020, when he won the men?s 212 Olympia.

On May 11, 2020, John Meadows suffered a heart attack due to a bleeding disorder of the blood vessels. He was hospitalized, but soon returned to a stable state. The news was first announced by his wife Mary Meadows.

John thinks his wife is the most influential person in his life. She experienced the ?ups and downs? with him and was always supportive of his life decisions. ?I couldn?t do this without her,? John Meadows said of her wife. ?When I got sick and was released from the hospital and was too weak to take care of myself, she did everything for me, including hygiene things that I couldn?t say.?

Sad sad news. John was as good as a guy as it gets. I mean really - you hear it a lot, but John was truly a gentleman, a very kind human being. I've been following him for years on YT - he was a wealth of information on nutrition and training. RIP Mountain Dog, and condolences to family. :(

Gear didnt help only a fool would think it didn’t have an important role in his death

Oz - when i say not sure the cause, i meant the exact cause. Blood clot, heart attack, etc. Not if gear contributed or not.

Yeah, he had some weird health conditions. Even though he was being more health conscious, carrying around that much extra weight all the time I’m sure didn’t help things. Always like him. Shared a lot of good information, was supper smart and seemed to be a super nice guy in general. Sad day!

Basically he destroyed his circulatory system. You know, many people are born with congenital heart problems and the heart and body being such amazing sources of life force have the ability and means to adapt and even restructure to a certain extent. We see this all the time. Angiogenesis is an example.

The gear was literally probably the element that shortened his life the way it did.

Now he had a major colon disease, see

In a recent interview, John described his wife’s pivotal role in helping him live with a rare colon disease called Idiopathic Myointimal Hyperplasia of the Mesenteric Veins. The condition was believed to have contributed to a blood clot that left him hospitalised in 2020.

I didn't research or even define the condition, but just from looking at it his veins in his gastro tract were probably clotted up and diseased due to malnourishment and drug abuse.

Who knows if he used rec drugs as well.

I've heard he was so nice and quite the gentleman and very loved by the bodybuilding community. It's a shame.

Couldn't believe when I read he was 49. I would have put him late 60s

Really sad to read the news yesterday

Humble,
All class,
A huge loss for the community

RIP mountain dog

It's a sad day, I will agree.

This man knew the risks and lived his life the way he wanted to.

I commend him and respect his decision.

Pretty sure it's not necessary to pick this apart because no one knew it better than him.

Bingo! If anyone knew the risks of what he was doing to himself it was him. I?m sure he was doing everything he could to stay as healthy as he could doing what he loved. Especially with his scare last year.

I like some of his YouTube videos...its nice seeing how stars really train and real weights and life not in magazines
