Kimbo slice dead at 42

Yep, they are going to blame gear at some point.

And frankly, they are not going to be totally off base. I've been at this stuff for a very, very long time. Longer than some of the members of this board have been alive.

The fighters with the most longevity, and ability to continue training into an "older" age, are not built like Kimbo. There may be a study out there, but if not, there will be as MMA continues to grow. But I have personally seen guys, who juice like they are body builders, and train like body builders, and almost without exception, they either suffer a debilitating injury, or they end up somehow with a heart issue.

The demands that MMA, especially the grappling component, places such a different type of stress on the body, that when blood flow is fucked with, in the bursty ways that it is; it is not a stretch to simply see a heart fail.

Obviously, my comments are extremely subjective. But after having done this for over 35 years, and seen this a lot, I may not be spot on; but I damn sure am not far off.

The back yard brawler got whipped by his own heart. Ironic. And a shame.

Yet he passed every pre fight physical he has ever taken & then he dropped dead from heart failure. Something isnt right with that.

Yep. Happens more than you might expect. Some die, some don't.

Obviously, I am no one to say for certain; but if he had any rec stimulants in there, he was a hot mess waiting to happen.

Kevin Randleman, lots of gear and cocaine.
Don't be surprised if Mark Coleman drops too. I've known those guys for a long time. Their eyes are about to explode out of their heads.

Wow... as it turns out, a new update shows that KS had some liver issues, alongside congestive heart failure. He was advised that he would need a heart transplant, and then placed on a list.

Doesn't seem to have a drug history of any kind. Sad no matter what.

He seems to have had a pretty good head on his shoulders and priorities were right.

I've seen the same pattern in Judo. Two good friends that juiced as a matter of fact had heart attacks at under 40. One was in his early 30s and didn't make it. Heavy use in both cases. Others that used lower end amounts and intermittently I've seen fare better mostly. Injuries it's tough to say for others but personally I know I have torn muscles that I felt had to do with PED use.
