Well.. on the happy note, my son actually sang the whole happy birthday song to me without any problems. (he is only three and talks like a 5 years old, and is the size of one) the sad part is.. october 15th I will 30 years old... I wanted to have a bbq with my friends where I cook the burgers and hot dogs and all that. Well my wife and I got the potato salad, macaroni salad, chips dip and all that... and noone showed up. I told everyone three weeks ago and reminded them a few times during this week... Still noone showed. Makes me wonder why I even bother talking to anyone at work. I may be a "social butterfly" but I have no real friends. The one that I do have, he takes care of his grandmother, and his four kids. (no he doesn't have a job or anything like that) We have been friends since we were both about 5 years old, and he couldn't make it because he has a jaw infection. But.. my mother came over and my mother in law was here (only because she lives in my loft) and my son. what a kinda crappy birthday starting out....

Thanks for letting me get this off me chest...

wow, sorry to hear that! if I lived close, I would have came over, I never pass up a BBQ :)

happy birthday bro!

Yes that is sad. I've never really had anyone i've ever called a friend, most people don't care enough about others to be a friend.

damn sorry I didn't see this post UD. Well now you know who your real friends are. Just take it as a learning experierence and realize that it's time to get some new friends. Nothing I hate more then when ppl say they will come to something and then they don't even give you a call saying they won't be there.

Also i'm with G4E i'd been there in a heartbeat. Nothing beats a good ole BBQ

No I never have. I think if most people look at who they are calling a friend and really think about if that person would be there for them without question, then they would have very few if any.

Underdog, Happy belated birthday...friend. :)

All my life I have picked my associates and chosen to associate with people of integrity and principle. Those people are rare and as you realize by now, most acquaintances are NOT true friends. If those people did not care enough to show up or even call, then you know they are not friends, just acquaintances that if they had nothing else to do, might have arrived just to eat your food and drink your beer. You're better off without these "fair weather" friends.

That's one reason I love some of these boards. There are truly fine members on here, and many I would consider friends offline as well. A board like this one draws people together and forges real friendships.

You have a lot of friends here Underdog!
