Last Wednesday I was in a pretty bad auto accident in my work truck in between service calls...I already had some points on my work driving safety record from earlier this year. At my job it doesn't matter if your fault or not you still get points.
I was not fucking around with stuff, not on either of my cell phones, and driving with the flow. I was on a 4 lane County highway (2 lanes each way) with no median or grass in between sides. I was behind another vehicle in left lane and looked right and saw the speed limit sign 55 then looked forward and the car was at a dead stop in front of me allegedly making a left turn (no highway sign alerting of street, no turning lane, no break in the painted lines that there was a street to the left, no cross street on the right) and I rear ended the car at 55mph...ambulance ride to hospital...heavily bruised chest, hips, and collarbone...doctor was worried I might have had internal damage or ripped heart...he said I got lucky and being heavily muscled saved my life...I was on crutches with a leg brace the first couple days because they thought I also broke kneecap but surgeon said dodged a bullet there...feeling fine now just sore and bruised...hurts to sneeze or cough or roll over in bed...
Worst is I was on company time on the clock and due to too many points now (no citations from cops...they didn't even come to the hospital to ticket me) my company fired me Friday at the end of the day and isn't paying me while out recovering Thursday and Friday...
Hopefully a blessing in disguise because in a couple weeks I get my certification letter from the union board for a trade I'm interested in trying for an apprenticeship where the real money is waiting for me to get into...better at 47 than never I say
Probably no gym for next 3-4 weeks...hopefully I get unemployment and my dumb state liberal governor is trying to extend the already still extra 300 on top of unemployment...which is about that 100 more a week than my current takehome pay was after deductions...I won't sit and collect long out of pride in myself...hoping this all was part of God's plan to get me in a better place while I'm still alive
