Is it ok to lift a muscle group while another group is still sore? Like if my traps and shoulders are sore would it be alright to lift chest and legs?

Thats the only way to get anywhere, ignore the pain in one body part and press forward with another. eat, sleep and repeat

Shoulders sore and hit chest? NO. Tris sore and hit chest or shoulders? NO. Bis sore and hit lats? NO. Point being, your delts play a major role in literally all types of bench, and dips too. Same with tris. Same with bi's playing a role in any pullup, pulldown, row. Hence, your intensity/poundages will suffer severly as a direct result of the "link" being sore and not recovered. Sure we can knit-pick and assume you are only going to do flyes for chest and laterals for delts and pullovers for lats, but come on.lol You get the point right? ;)

Ohhh, I just get that tingly feelin down there when ya talk like dat.

Dawgpound,
Great advice. The systemic recovery is vital to the next workout being a success even when other muscle groups are trained. I agree, go by your energy levels and how you feel. I started training 3-4 times per week instead of 5-6 times per week like I had done for 15 years...and grew like a weed and got stronger. Everyone is different, but be sure recovery is happening.

IMO it would be better to hit another muscle group, like do your legs that day then chest the next day after you recover/rest.

like the other bros said recovery is vital, give your body a chance to recover and grow, dont workout every day.
