Does anyone else feel like they look better when they take a week off? I'll usually take a week off every 6-8 weeks, and during that time I feel like I get results doing nothing. I know rest is beneficial, but it's just weird. It's an odd thing I can't really explain it.

I think taking a week off now and then allows your muscles to totally reload with glycogen and help you to look fuller.

That makes sense. If it's not being used as fuel, I guess it would be staying in the muscle.

Nope. I know it does me good but I loose my pump and get a little soft. I'm odd. I make progress training 5 days a week and I am a volume guy. More volume the better I do.

I'm the opposite. Heavy weights low volume.
I find I look better or worse depending on my carb and liquid intake.

Carbs hit me too. Make me stronger and good for adding size back after being off but they make me hold water and put on fat. I think it's good to cycle them in and out.

Actually yes… I noticed when I was sick for a couple weeks and took off that I look a lot better and fuller…

I never liked taking a week off ,more for the mental fact of it but it was beneficial in recovery and etc .
If im not in the gym I feel like a turd ...

I hardly take time off when at work or at home. But when I travel I don't work out and feel actually pretty relaxed. It's good for the body and the mind.

I normally have the best workout of my life after taking off 2-3 days - that's assuming I was eating good during those days. Anything longer than that I feel like I'm losing it. I never take a "planned" prolonged amount of time off. I save that for if I have an injury. I also have never taken any deload time. Every workout I have ever did was balls to the wall - no shit. I never was one to go to the gym if I felt anything less than 100% - to me, it would be a waste just to go thru the motions not being able to grind it. If not feeling like hitting the gym, I take an extra day of rest and kill it the next day. I think the key to be able to go all-out every workout is to make sure one gets enough rest & recovery. I never was one to hit it 5 days straight like many do. Max days straight I will train is 3 days before taking a day or 2 of rest, and usually it's only 2 days straight, then rest. Gotta master the instincts. Works for me.
