I have had 4, yes FOUR training clients in the last week that are from 175-205 tell me they "ONLY" want to be 240-250 lb and lean while training clean, at a height of 5'9-6'1. never mind that Arnold was 245 or so and lean when doing TONS of gear and training for the Olympia. And they all want to do it after one year or LESS of time......
Yes, some people can and will exceed these goals.......but they are few and far between, I cruise at 250 all the time.....I HAVE used steroids in the past, I am however not USUALLY totally cut at 250, and quite frankly, after 25 years of doing this, have found VERY few guys that hang-out at 250 lean while training clean.
Why do these guys think they can do it? Because they read bodybuilding magazines and internet forums where everyone is 275 and has 22 inch arms, so 250 and 19.5 inch arms seems "easy going".
I have trained people that have made it that far that fast look at:

He made it that far VERY fast (under one year, do a search for his "before pics").
But I am the first to say he has well above average genetics. While it is nice for me to know that he was TOTALLY stuck and not growing before he came to me, I am realistic enough to know that not everyone will achieve these types of results even after I dial diet and training in. I am realistic about progress and potential progress, are you? If everyone could go from 185 to 250 in one year don't you think gyms would be more full of 250 lb lean lifters???? I can help someone get there as fast as possible, but 185-200 to 250 is NOT a years work training clean, or even two years in the vast majority of cases if the lifter didn't start out at a high weight VERY young in his career. I hate to rain on peoples parade, but I told each of these 4 lifters outright that while it was possible it was highly unlikely. If they wanted it, it was not out of the question, but it being a year away likely was. If a year is too much, they are WAY in the WRONG sport.
