Damn another one yet.

RIP Matt. I remember seeing him in all the mags back in the 80's - the guy had a flawless physique with gifted muscle shape. Haney said in a vid a year or two back that Matt was the scariest competitor he faced. He said he had the best genetics of anyone he had seen, and was glad that he couldn't consistently hit his conditioning. No telling how far he could have went if he could just nail conditioning - the guy had it all, height, width, v-taper, crazy quad sweep, ginormous calves and just awesome overall shape that flowed. Matt was 61.

I knew his family, or I should say a family member of his. I was told he hit the AAS hard and heavy too soon and caused health issues early on. What killed him I don't know. I never met him personally but knew a family member that was a friend of one of my family. Anyway... He was one of those lucky guys that despite crazy genetics he didn't have a burning desire to keep going in the sport. I don't think he ever got his Pro card but not sure. Back in the early to mid-'80s, it wasn't as easy to turn pro. I used to try back then to get my sister to introduce me to her friend to meet Matt and pick this guy's brain but it never happened. Like most guys now I thought he probably took tons of juice to look like that. I personally think he just quit and didn't have the time for that intense lifestyle. You have to understand in the early 80's it was very rare to make a good living in BodyBuilding and I think he just went another route in life.

That’s too young! 61? Shit. I can’t help but mention his resemblance to my father in law. His face that is. I said “look honey, it’s your dad on steroids”. The wife agreed. “He does”. I had to do a double take. Lol.
