Well supplement, I wonder...because if it is a supplement...its supposed to supplement. And if its for bodybuilding...well it wouldn't be made to be avoided.
A med is a different story. The med is presumably prescribed by your physician who has your well being before his/her eyes. It is important to search for a physician in this sport that you can be completely honest with because some medicines do not jive well with the variety of cycles that the avid builders on here use.
The list of meds can be complicated but one that stands out in my mind is prednisone.
It is commonly prescribed and is used for a variety of situations. In the short term (a 5-7 day course) it will give you some fantastic workouts because a typical side effect is hyper-energy. But if you were to be put on this in the long term, as some people are, it would not be helpful to bodybuilding. In fact it wrecks bodybuilding because of the very nature of what it does...it jacks cortisol to reduce inflammation. Maybe a cycle would be strong enough to counter its longterm effects but for the sake of this thread...if my doc said he was going to put me on longterm, I'd say "hey...we need to talk."
Not a doc...so take nothing I say to the bank..except talk to your doc. Same thing with regards to over the counter meds. Ask the doc.
