my dad whipped one out once we used it at the cottage and in the lake didnt find anything cool i was sorta hoping id find a mettor or something in the lake

thought we were gonna talk about ceramic guns ....

I've never lived in an area where a metal detector would do much good.

I have owned many from over $1500 and have found that the most simple featured ones under $500 (when you know what your doing) is the best .
First and foremost is that you have to have a very light one , if you intend to go at it like I do (all day long).
A headset designed for the detector you get is a must .
Not all headsets are equal in this field.
And a endless supply of the best battery's you can get .
I usually replace battery's every day and sometimes twice, if I'm at it hard.

And believe me that they need to be balanced properly as to keep from killing your arm at the end of the day.
Out of all I've owned I like this one best ...

At only 2.2 pound you will never get tired of using it.
It is only $189.00 . you can't go wrong for your first and maybe the last .
It goes with me everywhere.

Just my 2 cents.

does the person who found it get payed for that?
if he doesnt i wouldnt have told any1 and i woulda just removed it all myself lol

There is a reward payable to him & the landowner split 50/50. Yeah, I would've kept quiet too but how can you shift in excess of 52,000 Roman coins without being rumbled?

wuts the weirdest thing u ever found or coolest?

Well ! I've found many a civil war buttons and buckles.
Gold neckless'es, rings and a couple of gold coins .
But nothing I would call a great find.

Last year I found a strong box in a old creek that was filled with silver dollars and miscellaneous silver US coins.

It was near a major highway and I think it had been stolen and tossed in the creek , but they never came back for it.

thanks 4 the advice hotcox.... when i get one i may ride down you way and detect some shit if you are up 4 it..

I've gone to the main library and looked at old maps and have found old abandoned settlements .
Most around here were along the rail roads.
You would be surprised at how many of them are out there.
