When I was young, I heard a lot about "Mirror Muscles." I wondered what they were, after all, wasn't the mirror just a reflection? I pondered this through the years, even before i had 9 inch arms. Yes, we all started somewhere, people! Anyway, people would show envy against some one with certain muscles and extend theput-down, "Yeah, he's big, but he only has Mirror Muscles!" Eventually, through delving research, I discovered these were, "muscles one can only see in the mirror." Primarily, this meant "chest" and "biceps." Well, I always was one to buck the croud so I refused to develop these so-called Mirror Muscles, my chest and biceps. For them I mainly did overall exercises not emphasizing on bulk or specificity. Here I am today, looking at my physique and trying to answer the question, "What three areas of my body are weak and need attention?" Guess what, just now I came to the realization that two of these included, yup, Mirror Muscles, ARRGGGHHHHHH!!! The one thing I did for years to set myself apart from the masses is now my achilles heal, hahahahaha. Saturn always gets the last laugh. So, Spring Training is chest, biceps, and lower abs, final, and any ipso facto's will be deniod! Now, off the the races to build up my Mirror Muscles, so I will once again be able to pinch a quarter between my upper pecs and hold it for 60 seconds, like I did when I was 28. HAHAHAHahahahaaaaa, oh the memories...

You and I both know thats BS right? Or did you use duct tape?lol :p Mid or lower pecs yeah, not upper.

I accept! Seriously though, my upper pecs are closer because of my odd shoulders. Never be able to pinch a quarter with my lower pecs.

I always thought "mirror muscles" was somewhat of a put-down of bodybuilders -- that bodybuilders are all vain narcissists, always looking at their muscles in the mirror and in love with their reflection; that the muscles are just for show and not really used for anything else, such as physical labor. It's an old-fashioned term, though, not heard much anymore, isn't it, sort of like "musclebound"?

Might be interesting to ask members how much time they spend in front of the mirror every day (not including gym mirrors when training). I admit I spend a lot of time -- 15-30 minutes grooming in the morning, up to an hour more on days I do a full-body shave, and most nights I oil up and practice posing for another half hour.

I think I know what you mean, like the difference between power lifters/bodybuilders??

All strength athletes are strong, as are endurance athletes just different kinds of strong.

There are plenty of guys bigger than me or more muscular but I'm one of the strongest people i know but thats what I concentrate on not necessarily hypertrophy alone.
