Well here's the results of 51 years of labor.
I always struggled with back thickness because from the side I am quite narrow.
Through the years I did many different back exercises to thicken up.
The kids in my inner-city school act tough, and for the most part they are, but I get challenged by the guys out to strike out as independent males ready to take on the world.
I used to get irritated, but now I realize it is a form of flattery.
Today, a "tough guy" was acting up.
I have a good repore with him.
He thought he had it all and was all that, but I tried to convince him that in reality he was only competing with himself, "but I'll give you something to shoot for," I said, and asked, "How much do you weigh?"
He said, "About 160."
Then I said, "Did you know, that when I weighed 162 I deadlifted 390 for 1 rep on my 12th set ?"
I took the liberty of demonstrating a proper deadlift to him and the other big guys he was chatting with.
I went on to explain that it was one of the three exercises used for competition in power lifting.
"Yeah," I said, it's true." "Deadlifted 390 at 162 pounds."
"Try that exercise out for size," I told him, "and just do 3x8 3xweek, x1 month, and if you stick with it, then I'll consider you really tough."
Then I told him he should be focusing on building himself up, "to go the distance," I said, "Just to really see if you're tough."
Oh well, enough philosophy, here's the back pic taken a few days before my 51st birthday in July 2010.
I still need more work, but maybe I should give myself a break, because I must have done a ton of work to develop it the way it is.
Comments are welcome.

Thats a pretty good dead for your bdwt dude. Thats 2.4x your bdwt...that would be like me pulling 625 at 260...can't do it haha! :p I could years ago when I weighed 240, but with age I don't usually go over 5 plates a side these days and most of the time its only 4 plates with more reps. Propz to ya. :)
