My dreaded deadlift videotape session

my fucked up deadlift story..

anyway I did my warmups, and intended fully to get my workset taped today, so I explained to my wife how to use the camera, and I managed to get 315 x 16 reps, a record for me, I was excited as hell, well somehow, how I have no fucking clue....she did NOT get it on tape. I was furious and she gave me that little smile with her dimples showing and said honey just rest a couple minutes and do it again.

I was already drenched in sweat, and decided what the hell I felt good today, so I got me some water and just sit and chilled for 10 minutes at least.
Then I went over and had her do some sample videos, so I was positive she knew how to do it right. I go over and get ready to go again, got straps ready and took off...got 15 reps again. When I was done, I seriously was fucking spent. She captured it this time . So todays workout went as follows, there was NO fucking energy left after that second set

145 x 10
235 x 10
315 x 16
315 x 15.......that was everything I had. I feel I am gonna be sore tommorow
 
real nice bro....yea ur gona b hurtin 2marrow, but itll b a good hurt....the kind where u know u went balls out....or balls deep dependin on what type of *exercise* :)
 
bro It has been like 30-40 mnutes and my glutes are sore, my back is sore, legs are still quivering, I think tommorow I aint gonna want to get outta bed......

good deal, out of curiosity, why would you want to do 15 rep deads?

sure any reason not too?.........DC training is not ever low reps like IA had us doing

yea, but you dont' need to do 15 reps of deads to grow from them. It's not like doing 20 rep squats. Maybe I'm missing something, but doing 15 reps of deads isn't needed. If anything, your going to end up over-training lol..

Heavy is relative--it doesn?t mean 3 reps --- it means as heavy as you can go on that exercise no matter if it
is 5 reps or 50 reps.

how taxing was 15reps on your body? Yea, and you did it twice. Higher rep deads 10+ tends to get sloppy for the majority of the people. Sloppy reps equals bad form, bad form leads to injury. Unless your body has pretty dam good recovery abilities, I wouldn't do it. Just my 2cents.

Warm ups are to do just that, not wear you out, you are doing way to many reps for warm ups, as you increase weight decrease reps for warm ups...

True that- I know you read IA's article on warmups G4E- you should warmup like that no matter if you are goin for a Max or the 15 rep deads- you could probably add 20 pounds to that lift just by changin that warmup.


as to Buffs Q about not to do 15 rep deads some people respond better to the high rep stuff. I tried IA WSB stuff and it didnt do shit for me and now we are doin high rep stuff kinda like DC uses but with a diferent frequency and I am goin up in weight every week.

and DC uses the high reps- HE KNOWS HIS SHIT!

just curious G4E are you using a regular barbell and conventional deads or are you usin a Trap bar??
