The bandage came off today. It was wrapped in a pressure dressing from mid thigh to mid calf- pain in the ass!! So, doesn't it look bee-you-tiful? :ugh: It's always been ugly since I had surgery on it when I was a teenager. It'll be a littel better looking when I was off the bridine and the doc's initials!

I didn't think I would have any stitches. There are 3 puncture wounds- the one way up top doesn't have a stitch in it. More scars to add to my collection :( You can see some of my huge scar, plus I have other ones from the other surgeries I've had. Most unattractive.

Anyway, it's still swollen quite a bit. I am going to see my PT sometime this week about it and my shoulder. More or less a check-up. I find the knee bad this morning. I was at my nephew's b-day party yesterday and was up quite a bit more than I have been since it was done, so I think I overdid it a bit :D

I'll keep ya all updated.

You definitely need to be taking it easy right now. Don't make me come up there and tie you to the bed! :nono:

I will take it easy though.

Wish indeed! You better take it easy, if not I will have to put you over my knee and spank that beautiful bottom of yours! Now you wouldn't want that would you?

oh yes! take it easy lady! better to get it all over and done with in one go, and no repeat performances!

Woohoooooooooooooooo, closeup of IG's leg! LOL

Yup, try and control yourself Hawk ;) LMFAO

If that wouldn't turn you off, nothing will :)

See, I'm not too proud to show myself looking not so good..lol..although I don't have nerve enough to show the pre-tummy tuck pics :D

I should NOT have looked

Wow G4E, you really DO have a weak stomach. I can only imagine what you'd do if you saw my belly surgery..LOL..or the first knee surgery I had.

Got pics of those? ;)

Your knee looks really good actually - I would have expected more bruising and stuff.

lol...all I have is the pre-op pics when all the skin was still there. I'm going to scan them and see what they are like. If I had my time back, I would have taken pics along the way. But I had other things on my mind. I have to say, it was a big surgery to recover from.

Here's my knee today.I thought there was a fair bit of bruising below the biggest incision. You can't see it as well in the pics. I am a little concerned about that incision actually. It is really sore and sensitive and a little redenned. The area is very tight and I noticed this morning that it is a little hard around it. I don't have a good feeling :( I may have to get a second opinion today or tomorrow.

Aaron, I cannot remember what my recovery was like after the last scope I had. I can weight bear fully when walking, although it's slow going. I cannot pivot using that leg at all. If I am up for 5 minutes, or even less, doing anything, my knee is +++++stiff and practically immobile. No pain as such, just very uncomfortable, and like I said, I am basically useless then. I can go up and down stairs only partially weigh bearing on that leg. I lean heavily on the rail, especially coming down.

Everyone tells me to lie down and keep my leg up. But I have to be active a little bit, don't I?

I know it's only been a few days. Seems like a month. When your ability to walk is affected, it puts a whole new perspective on things. I hate it. I hate being dependant on others.

Dont wait to long if you feel something is not quite right with the knee.

I see the bruising, but overall I think it looks pretty good, just to have had it worked on.

I bet you are loosing your mind not being able to get up and about like normal... just dont rush it girlie;)

Definitely get the incision checked out if it starting to show signs of infection - last thing you need is an infection in that joint.

You are sounding like a normal patient who just had surgery in terms of the stiffness and soreness. The pivoting I wouldn't even attempt at this point - since you don't know "for sure" what he did in there... keeping it elevated is good when you are down, and it is OK to take it easy a bit for the time being. I would keep doing things like ankle pumps and quad sets while you are resting. If your doc says it is OK try to get on an exercise bike and just go back and forth as far as your swelling/pain will allow - you won't get a full revolution, but the movement will help to get some of that edema out of there and really help with the overall feeling of the joint. I'll say the same thing as pincushn and say don't try to rush it - it has only been a few days after all!

Thanks Aaron! I'm just feeling sorry for myself :D It feels better than it did this morning, with regards to the incision. I'll see what it's like tomorrow.

I do the ankle pumps and quad sets a lot.

Thanks to you too, pin :)

You know the signs of infection pretty well I'm sure - being a nurse and all... so don't take any chances if it looks even close.
I thought my posterior incisions were getting infected at first (2 of them are like an inch apart) because it was really red and sore to the touch between them. Had Tracy check it out for me, turned out I just had a huge zip popping up between the incisions!! LOL!

How are you feeling this afternoon? I hope beter day by day!!!!!

Thanks for asking sweetheart :) I am feeling pretty good. I was in a good mood all day..lol..except by suppertime I was going a little stir crazy!!!! I borrowed my neighbours cane and went out for a little bit. I had to get out in the civilized world!!!! And, put it this way, I was glad I had a cane!!!

The incision looks ok. It IS a little red but it's not infected. It's in a funny place. First of all it cuts into my old scar- the really BIG one. I don't like that- potential for problems there. And it's right at the point where my knee bends and is full of scar tissue. And when I am up for a bit, it swells and gets tight.

Anyhoo, are you sorry you asked? ;) Thanks for thinking of me :smooch:
