So its been one month since I wrecked my bike. My broke leg and ankle are fine. I have 2 pins in my right ankle, there is some discomfort sometimes but its tolerable no issues. Im wearing a boot and get around good with it. I still have crutches but I really dont need them. I had some head swelling on the right side of my head with road rash and concussion. The swelling has went down.

Out in my shop, I have a complete gym, flat bench, smith machine, cables with frames and pullies I built myself that I drafted at work and welded myself (I'm and mechanical engineer), I have dumbells from 20 to 120, curl barls, and around 600 pounds of free weights, ect..shit that i hae accumulated over years and years.

I went out to my shop today messing around, cause being in my house is driving me crazy. Since I was feeling so good I figured I would do some light chest today and see how I felt. I mean the idea was to go very, very light...start a log and start increasing over time...I set up the smith machine just to warm up, I laid down on the bench..and about 2 seconds after I got into position I got really lightheaded, just from laying down flat on the bench...I mean to the point of almost passing out..I set back up and waitied a few minutes. I tried to laydown again and did the same thing 3 times...I got very dizzy and thought I was going to pass out, and I almost threw up the last time and broke out into a sever sweat. I never unracked the weight.

I have never had a head injury like this but today it scared me pretty good...all of the swelling has went down and all of the road rash healed. I'm going back to the doc tuesday and I guess we will have to do an MRI and dig deeper into this...I'm hoping its just after effects from the concussion and such...I'm hoping its nothing serious, and I hope its just due to some swelling inside that hasn't fully healed..but it scared the shit out of me today, and I had my daughter with me outside playing...

But the thing is when I lay down on the couch or in the bed, I dont get dizzy like that. Maybe cause its not totally flat? Hell IDK, but my bed is pretty firm....got me puzzled for sure..

Anyone been through this or something similar? Please speak freely....I'm open to any thoughts, cause im pretty worried about this shit..

I have no experience with this. But to judge the severity of your condition.... CAN YOU STILL HAVE SEX?

I had a really bad highside during race practice on my roadbike in 08. I sustained my 3 rd concussion that I have had to go to the hospital for, I am sure I have had more. I had double vision and stuttered for almost a month. I would get dizzy when I layed on my back for Probaly a few months. I had a CT scan done again and I had brain swelling with alittle hemmoraging. I was sent to a neuro doc and she hooked me up to some crazy machines and told me I had irreversible brain damage. I was like how can you tell I was Probaly born that way..LOL if you haven't had a ct try to get one dude.

Head injuries are scary. Glad it's nothin serious

if i were u i would start out with cardio. Being deconditioned and head injury togather will make u feel more dizzier than you s hould.

My theory is this.. Your arterial CO2 causes vasodilation or vaso constriction in your brain. Low CO2 causes vaso constriction and high CO2 causes vasodilation in your brain. Vaso dilation is not good when you allready have or had brain swelling. Since you are deconditioned, from resting so much your body arterial CO2 will not be what it usually was when you are conditioned whilst you are working out. Do some cardio, get your heart and lungs back into a good shape and then worry bout the muscles.

The above is completely a theory, lol. dont go asking your doc, he will look at u like a fool.

Cardio should be somethin slow and staeady that you can mantain for 45 minutes. like walking on an incline. dont go running a mile..

It's a good thing you're still here!
Think about your daughter if you ride again.
I think of my kids when I ride.
Go easy.

Good enough.
I got hit in the head with a small refrigerator thrown from the neighboring frat's deck. Almost broke my neck.
Got 11 stitches on my skull.
My short-term memory was shot for over a year.
Well, still is to a degree. Frontal lobe, ya know.
The body is resilient and you appear to be as well.
Good luk with your recovery.

I have had that problem from my Meniere's disease. It's a sort of swelling in the inner ear and if fucks with my equilibrium when the swelling is bad. Maybe you still have some swelling in your head that impinges somehow on your auditory nerve. That's what does it in Meniere's.
