I am attempting to get my diet going again but cannot decide which route I wanna travel. I have done swoles diet before and did drop a lot of fat but I also felt tired and drained a lot of the time. Currently I am about 5'11, 190 lbs with approximately 14% bf. I am looking to get lean again but I am not in a hurry. For my workouts I am sticking to low rep, high intensity and will be doing a lot of olympic lifts.

My question to you all is, would you recommend mixing up my meals throughout the day, for example: Alternating my meals with Protein/Fat then Protein/Carbs. The carbs I would be consuming would of course be low g.i. such as sweet potatoes, brown rice, oatmeal, etc... Then maybe consume high gi carbs w/protein immediately after workout.

Could anyone that has tried swoles diet and one similar to the diet mentioned above offer any comparison for me? I also plan on doing cardio 3-4 days a week. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks
Sliz

I did swole's diet a while back. I feel a timed carb diet works better and is a lot easier to manage. I've also done a low fat/high protein/moderate carb diet that worked really well. The low fat diet was easier to fallow, but your at risk of losing muslce if you don't know exactly what your doing.

Buffness and I have both rath SGX, we both had good results. The diet is great however, I did experience what you described as low energy at times, after the first few weeks though it did go away though. My biggest problem is I diet till I reach a certain point and I get burnt out, sick of cutting and give up. If I could just keep on going I am sure I would get really lean. Your plan should work well, stick to low GI carbs durng day and higher GI PWO, keep protein high 1.5-2g per lb. cardio 3-4 times a week is a good start, but eventually you will need more, I know it sucks, but it is reality. :)

thanks for the help. Don't get me wrong, swoles diet definitely worked and if I would have worked with swole to evolve my diet I am sure I would have continued to progress. Yet it would of taken a lot of swoles time to get sgx perfect for me. I am trying to devlop the ability to notice how my body reacts from certain foods and figuring out what works best for me. Buff, you mentioned that if I do the low fat/high protein/moderate carb, I would be running the risk of losing muscle, would you mind elaborating on that if you get a chance. Thanks again.

Sure, most of the time bb'ing guys fallow this approch to get dialed in for a show. Works well if done right. You basically have to know your body well and be able to make adjustments up, or down if your losing to much weight, or if body fat isn't coming off. Most if not all your carbs should be low GI. Some fat in most meals except PWO, and your protein coming mainly from solid foods(except PWO). For example, your first meal could look something like this

Oatmeal 50g carbs
Protein 60g protein
Fat 8grams

Make sure to eat veggie's. Obviously there is a lot more planning and adjustments that need to be made as you go, but this is the basic principle. If you lose weight to fast, you can have some higher carb days till it slows down again. If you lose weight to fast, that means your losing muscle which is not good..
