Instead of binging for pleasure, which is fine, and normal, for many on this weekend, I decided to bust ass and get some much needed dirty work done.
All told, I finished sanding two bedrooms and a hallway floor to bare wood, then prepped it for staining. I sanded for 6 hours on Saturday and 8 hours on Sunday with floor sanders and an edger. Then I spent five hours using just a palm sander yesterday. Damn my forearms are pumped! The square footage is about 340.
Tonight after coaching soccer I will attempt to apply stain, then it's varnish, sand, varnish, sand, and varnish, sand for a few weeks.

Oh yeah, and the really great news is school is out in 20 days,
YYYYYAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

why would u sand after varnish isnt that counter productive and u could also ruin the stain that way? also why not use a stain varnish combo so u only have to apply 1 time saves u alot of work

Well, I did the whole second floor once already (four bedrooms, the closets, and a hallway), but my wife didn't like it.
Actually I don't blame her because I didn't like it either.
I did it quickly and used water-based polyurethane because the furniture was on the way.
I spent over 100 hours on the one bedroom and it looks perfect. The main bedroom looked the best so it will have to wait.
The two bedrooms and hallway I just sanded will look fabulous once I get the third coat of Varathane polyurethane on them.
That won't happen, though for at least another 60 hours though. After that I will never redo them again!
