LOL, I admit, I do tend to identify with conservative ideology and policies. You know, smaller, less intrusive government that takes less taxes, etc.
McCain was definitely not the one I wanted to win the nomination. I do not think he is a real conservative. In fact, he has spent the last few years kicking conservatives in the face on things like illegal immigration, McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform, his stance on judicial filibusters and other things. If it were pretty much anyone that didn't scare the hell out of me running against him, I would vote for the other guy/gal. This is yet another election in which I am forced to choose the better of two evils.
Also, you have to have at least a little grudging admiration for the guy for fighting for his country and getting tortured and not giving up any information. That is something that everyone tells themselves they would be able to do but no one really knows if they could handle it with honor or not until they are actually put in that situation. Many that are finally put in that situation are embarrassed to find that they are not made of as stern a stuff as they had thought. But, I digress...
Obama flat out scares me to death. I really feel that if he is elected along with a filibuster proof majority in the senate and a large majority in the house, this country will make a DRAMATIC shift to the left and we may NEVER be able to undo the damage. The thing about the government is that once you give it power, it never relinquishes that power. Once all the new beauocracies are formed and new entitlements are granted, they will be here to stay.
Specific policies, associations, and other things that are anathema to me include:
1) His "tax" plan: He has redefined the term "tax cut". Keep in mind that when he claims that "95% of us will get tax cuts" only about 70% of Americans actually pay taxes in the first place. Many have enough exemptions and liabilities that they get everything back at the end of the year and so they don't pay ANY taxes. So he wants to increase taxes on the "rich" so he can turn around and give a government check to people who do not pay taxes. That isn't a tax cut; that is WELFARE. All that does is increase people's dependency on government. Under his plan, about half of the top 5% of "rich" people are small businesses. With our economy in the crapper, he wants to raise taxes on millions of small businesses???? THAT IS INSANE. That will cost millions of jobs and cause the recession to become a depression. There are very good reasons why all the "Joe-the Plumber" commercials are resonating with people. Taking money away from one group of people to give it to another group of people is SOCIALISM. Taken along with his recorded comments about affecting "redistributive change", his comments to Joe the Plumber (We want to spread the wealth around; that's good for everybody) are an accurate glimpse of what Obama is really all about. He wants to take what you have worked your ass off for and give it to someone else who didn't. That is not the kind of CHANGE I want any part of.
The business I am a partner in makes well over 250k a year. The thing is, we turn around and spend 99% of what we make in overhead trying to grow the business. Our actual profits are barely subsistence level. We will have to severely curtail what we can do and maybe even go out of business if he raises our taxes to the levels he is talking about. That isn't HOPE! That is financial ruin.
2) His past associations and friendships with known terrorists (Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dorn, Khalid Mohammid), extreme anti-American, anti-white bigots (Rev. Wright, Father Phleger), and actual declared socialist parties (the New Party).
Bill Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dorn are unrepentant domestic terrorists. Members of the Weather Underground, they bombed the capital as well as a few judge's houses. It was just sheer luck no one was killed as people were home when their homes were bombed. In 2006, Bill Ayers gave an interview where he said "he regretted not setting more bombs". The interview was published with a picture of him standing on the American Flag. Notice the background shows he is in an ally. I guess he was afraid of what might happen if he pulled that shit out in the open. Now, Ayers served on the same committee with Obama in Chicago. He lived in the same neighborhood and sent his kids to the same school as Obama's kids. Obama launched his bid to be Senator out of Ayers' living room. Obama WORKED with him; LIVED next to him and attended SOCIAL EVENTS with him. Ayers was NOT just "some guy in the neighborhood", a casual acquaintance that Obama knew nothing about like he would like us to believe now.
Khalid Mohammed was a spokesperson for Yassir Arafat when the PLO was recognized and listed as a terrorist organization. You don't get any more anti-Semitic than this guy. He has publicly spoken about a ONE state solution to the Palestinian problem. Guess which state would have to disappear for that to happen. Obama attended a party for Khalid (along with his friends Ayers and Dorn) and toasted him to boot. The LA Times is sitting on the video of that toast as I write. They won't release it; I wonder why. I guess we peons don't have the intelligence or judgment to determine what we think of that so the LA times is protecting us from our own stupidity and intolerance.
He sat in the congregation of his PASTOR for 20 years while Rev. Wright thundered on about "Ameri-KKK-a"; declaring that America's chickens came home to roost on 9-11 and shouted "GODDAMN AMERICA". He claims he never heard any of that....Yeah, uh huh. Lets just say for the sake of argument he only went to church twice a month. That means he sat through 500 sermons and in 500 SERMINS he never heard any of that? FUCK HIM! I can't believe people are swallowing that horse shit. I've seen video of Obama describing his pastor and mentor of 20 years as "the very best a black church has to offer". All of a sudden though, "this isn't the Rev. Wright I knew"?
This is a man that would NEVER pass a security screening by the FBI or CIA and people want to make him POTUS??? This is a man who refused to were a flag pin on his lapel; place his hand on his heart or even recite the Pledge of Allegiance and people somehow feel he is qualified to be commander and chief?? He paid a cover for ACORN hundreds of thousands of dollars to register new voters. ACORN turned around and donated money to his campaign while simultaneously engaging in wide-spread voter fraud. At least 10 states have ongoing investigations for things like signing up dead people, nonexistent people, paying homeless people with cigarettes and beer to register Democrat...72 TIMES, signing up mentally handicapped people and then accompanying them to the early voter polls and voting FOR them for Obama. There are 200,000 voter registrations in Ohio alone that do not match SS numbers of people eligible to vote. Bush won Ohio in 2004 with half that many votes. It is very possible; even likely that this election is in the process of being outright stolen. He has outspent McCain 10 to 1. The media has abandoned any pretext of objectivity and in many cases outright advocates for Obama and he still has to engage in massive and widespread voter fraud to even have a chance.
Everyone has the right to vote for whomever they wish. This election you have a striking difference in ideology and character. I have never seen a clearer distinction.
Do you want "redistributive" tax policy or do you want to keep more of what you EARN and let the other guy earn his too?
Do you want a Commander and Chief who has shown disdain for the military and his country or do you want a C and C who is intensely patriotic and has fought for and suffered for his country?
Do you want a man as your leader who has associations and friendships with known terrorists (the Khalids babysat the Obama children for christ sake) or do you want a man in office who will hunt down the bastards and keep Al Queda on the run?
Do you want a POTUS that the entire Arab world and Al Queda endorse or do you want a man who Al Queda wishes G-d to "humiliate and bring low" as per their latest video?
I could list many more but you get the idea. My choice has never been so clear. I truly believe that Obama could destroy this country if elected and if super majorities in the house and senate are elected as well, very likely WILL destroy this country. The country I grew up in will cease to exist in it's present form and America's status as both a military and economic superpower will fall. I predict that within his first term we will see a bonafide economic depression and double digit unemployment.
