When I was in Italy for 3 months up until about 16 days ago I was obviously eating the native food there. After the first 3 weeks or so of eating everything in sight I tightened up my diet. Noe, mind you, the first thing I did when I got there was to join a gym and a dojo. I averaged 3 or 4 weight training sessions and 1 or 2 grappling sessions a week. Aside from the last 2 weeks when I got sick and week or 2 over the 13 weeks there that was the pattern. Even when i had flu I still trained at least 2x a week. I was on TRT at 200-300 mg/w up until the last week.
Well after my guests left after a week stay and immediately dropping the tons of pasta, pizza and gelato. I dropped 5 kilos in one week. I was not starving myself. I was eating 4 solid meals a day and something tasty everyday on top. The food was very good quality. You could smell a tomato holding it at arm's length. The olive oil was almost all from friends and hand pressed from family olive groves. My produce was mostly from a farmer's market 2 blocks away. Meats are cured the old way. no preservatives. No antibiotics or hormones in the meat or milk. Everything goes bad an a few days so you ahve to shop every other day or so. It goes bad because it is in it's most natural state.
My waist went down 4 inches while I was there. I went from 212 down to 195 at one point. I hoovered around 198-200 lbs. If I had a week where I missed a some weight training I would drop more weight. I didn't bloat up like I do here in the States. I would actually get flatter and leaner because generally if my activity dropped so did my appetite. My body was working better because the food was more pure, more natural, more health giving.
When I would go out with friends and gouge myself once a week my stomach would swell but by morning it was back to normal again. Whereas in the states I would be bloated for days and find it hard to eat, I was ready for breakfast hungry and flat stomach and ready to go.
When I got back my wife and friends were really surprised how lean I got. it was all because the food was such high quality. I did not diet. I did not restrict myself. I just ate like I normally do, like a bodybuilder essentially with a piece of chocolate or gelato or soemthing tastey once a day with everything else clean. Lots of olive oil, lots of cheese. Lots of fruit and veggies. 2-3 fruits and 4 oz of cheese every day. 12-16 oz of chicken or fish or other meat. Local grown garlic and basil and maybe not quit local rosemary as spices. Potatoes, rice and gnucci for carbs.
When I got back within 10 days my gut was swollen again. It is a real eye opener as to what kind of shit the aggricorp network is feeding us here. I'm now trying to duplicate the food sources best I can over here. it is difficult if not impossible.
