off season started 2 weeks ago.., going back to what worked in the past.
so for past few years, I've been following recent trend of staying lean in the offseason, that means the protein is super high and carbs are med to low, fats fairly high.... with the calories reaching towards 4500 cal/day and 450-500g protein, carbs around 260-300g, and fats around 145-160g, I've got to my weight around 240 range(I also had 3 huge cheat meals on fri/sat/sun night). the problem was with my shoulder injury from the past, my pressing strength really suffered and I've never really got that ''juiced up pump'' in the gym despite using stuff like drol and slin. I'm also embarrassed to say at my 40's, I've reached my all time highest dose of around 3grams of gear(700mg tren, 700mg primo, 1000mg test, 600mg eq). the weight just didn't feel light like years ago when the gear peaked in my system. sure I was big, but just didn't have that roundness I used to have, and again, the biggest concern was the lack of pump. my squat got to 600 for 3, bent rows in 315-365range for 6-8 reps but my pressing was measly 225 x 8 for flat bench on good days and couldn't do 315 for 2 reps in full range(shoulder and elbow just killed once past 225 range).
I just finished a cutting cycle 2 weeks ago(400mg primo, 300mg deca, 500mg test, 25mg winni last 4 weeks) and was eating 2600 calories, very low carbs. and since then I decided to go back to high carb(55%), med protein (25%), and low fat (20%) at 3500 caloires daily with 3 large cheatmeals fri/sat/sun
result? instant fullness, massive pumps in the gym like first time juicing, and my shoulders are getting better and 225 felt light in my hand again! I don't thin I had a bad workout in the last 2 weeks since starting this diet.
I remembered that carbs are the preferred source of energy, especially in anaerobic activities like weight training. looking back, I was trying to use more ketones for energy which is very inefficient and can create acidity to toxic level, I was going against the body's natural function.
I plan to stay clean for another 6 weeks before jumping on cycle and this time looking to try dbol again.
I must give credit to Chris Aceto's ''championship bodybuilding'' for convincing myself to go high carbs again. there is definitely a problem with ''too much information'' available for someone OCD like me, especially when the proven methods are right here in my brain.
any comments or criticisms are welcome.
