My roomate and I don't talk. Seriously it's been atleast 2+months since a word has been spoken to each other. Anyway here's the deal

When we turn are a/c or heat on are electric bill doubles. Well it's even worse when you turn it down low. So I like to keep the house around 73-75degrees. I lean towards 75 b/c are house is actually very cool feeling.

Well my roomate will turn the air down to 68 and below and have all the fans running in the house even when he is not here. It has been a constant cat and mouse game lately with me turning it up and him turning it down. Just the other night he had it down to 67 so I turned it back up at 2:30am. Well when I came down at 8am it was back down. So I figured i'd just mess with the temp guage so he thinks it's colder than it actually is, does that stop him, hell no. I got home and it was 65-66degrees.

I finally got fed up with the thought about having to pay over dbl what I usually pay so I wrote a note and stuck it on the thermostat for him to read. I said that I don't like having the house freezing cold and if he wants it that way he will have to pay extra. I'm only meaning 10dollars or so and that would be pretty generous for having the a/c running all day.

Anyway when I get back home he has wadded up the note thrown it on my desk turned the a/c up to 90 and decided to drive back to are hometown 1.5hrs a way instead of staying here after work.

Another thing is I take care of turning in all the bills, pay for all the stamps, and I have the smaller room by half the size yet still pay the same rent(literally it is half the size). I don't see why this should cause a problem. I guess i'm going to have to end are not talking streak and just let him know what i'm thinking. I just need to make sure I don't show him what i'm thinking:)

O and on top of that I have to keep all my bathroom items in my room other wise he will use them and not replace them. I have a small ass room yet have to waste space filling it up with junk like toilet paper and Q-tips.

Ok so what are your thoughts on this?? Was I unreasonable with my thoughts on the a/c??

I mean is it my fault he weighs 300lbs and has a C cup? I don't think so. I mean I can't help the fact that he gets out of breath just sitting at his cpu.

OK enough rambling

Matt I think it's very fair that he pays more of the bill if he's going to keep the house below a reasonable temp. As far as the rest of the shit you have to deal with living with him is just ridiculous. The fact that he weighs 300 lbs is an indication he probably doesn't give a shit about anything but getting food in his mouth.

There's no way I could live with someone that I had to hide everything in my bedroom. Tell him how you feel and ask him wtf is your problem?

matt seriously, take him outside and beat his fatass until he gets some sense...........either that or find a new roomate, this guy is not going to change

Although I like G4E's idea, it might cause a few problems........lol

I would say you are being completely reasonable about the whole thing. In your shoes I may even resort to taking off the heating/ac panel and disconnecting the wires behind there. I own a house right now and rent rooms to people and I can tell you that it's a real pain in the ass when people just leave shit on all the time (lights, heat, tv, etc).

Try talking to him (as painful as it may be). If he doesn't come around then i daresay it's time to find a new roomie.

yeah after Dec my lease is up and I will be moving to a new place in Jan. Just going to be in a one bedroom apt. The funny thing is this fucker thinks he's so cool and what not, but his friends come right back to me and tell me everything he says and does. He will pretty much make up stories about me and tell everybody how mean I am. Luckily all are friends knows what a baby he is and will be like Matt please do something we are sick of hearing him whine haha

Just so ppl here now. One of the reasons why he got pissed at me awhile back is b/c I fired him from working on my security crew. I give ppl a job that pays 50dollars cash for 4hrs of sitting down or leaning against a wall, and they take advantage of it. He would tell me the day of he was going to do something else and couldn't work. So I gave him a warning and on around the 4th time I told him don't ever worry about working for me again.

Once again he left and went and told everybody that I was mean haha and they came right back and told me what a baby he was being.

Anyway I can't wait till I move out

Any chance of putting the electric bill in his name? Tell him (or write a note saying), if he wants the AC on all the time he can pay the difference. Afterwards, if the bill isn't paid on time, it's his ass, not yours.

Actually the electric bill isn't in either of are names. It's in are old roomates name and I never felt like switching it over.
