Change of pace from BB discussion, which quite honestly after 30 or so years is quite boring (even though it constantly evolves and I’m still stuck in the 90s lol). What are some of you guys other hobbies? My top 3 would be travel, cars, and luxury watches. So what are you guys into? No matter how weird or whatever, let’s hear it.
 
I have quit a few knives, ammo & guns. I mean how many do you really need?

I’ve been getting more into hunting recently, mainly predator & raccoons.
 
I had quite a few weapons, pretty interesting stuff. I choose not to be more specific than that lol. When we moved permanently to our place in Mx though they all were lost in a boating accident 😂
 
I totally understand. My knives made it plus grandpas old double barrel 20 gauge. That was a sad day.
 
i have no one to blame for this but myself, i have spent the last 15 years working stupid hours.. it wasnt till recently i got back to the gym on a regular basis once upon a time i had dirt bikes, quads, guns and time to play with them.

i have motorcycles and plan on getting a old car to keep me busy when the right on shows up or ill sell everything and disappear to another country to retire and grow a garden..

i do travel a lot for work so thats a blessing and a curse. getting older i respect it more and enjoy the process but hate getting there, love being there tho.

i wish the US had a more European work culture, the US spends way to much time money focused and as you get older the time is just gone..

hobbies are important and i need to remind myself of that more often

I'm still new, I'm still obsessed with bb'ing.
 
Music baby... writing, playing, or listening. I own 20 guitars I guess. I collect weapons lol...guns, knives, swords, bows, axes, spears. Power tools. Love hiking...I could hike for days. I read a lot and collect Conan the Barbarian stuff. Sports fan...used to hunt a lot but not so much anymore. Still fish once in a while...

Boy does some of this sound familiar lol. I’ve worked my share of 100hr work weeks. There’s nothing wrong with it if you do it to get where you want. I killed myself so that we could retire before I hit 50 and before the wife hit 40. Sold all the cool cars off and moved to the Caribbean. As long as there’s an end game it’s not completely bad working your ass off.

I guess I am kind of a strange guy. I have maybe 40 weapons here, my homeowner' policy is ridiculous because I have to cover all of them including one Barrett sniper rifle that is worth over $5K. My wife and I carry every where we go but I have no desire to hunt and kill anything, strange huh? I lost the desire to ever kill again after my Vietnam experience, unless I feel my life or my wife's life is in danger. Weight training has always been a part of my life and my wife's life so we just have lost interest in hobbies. My wife makes and designs jewelry but the economic conditions over the past few years has killed business. We are both completely happy with taking care of animals and our home. We have been involved with our state TNR program for over 15 years. We also take care of the possums, raccoons, squirrels and birds that visit our property. I use to water ski, sold my boat, was a scuba instructor and have not been in years. I guess I like having a simple stay at home life now. Hell, we even quit traveling all together. Our only trips out of the house are to the grocery store and to the gym. Even my job is 3 miles from the house. and I spend about 90 minutes a day working.
 
Sounds like you have a nice collection. I’m just getting back into hunting a little. Going deer hunting this year too. It’s just nice & peaceful to get out in the woods. Now that I’m getting older I appreciate that so much more.
 
Not odd at all. Speaking of weapons collections….not me, but the guy we bought our house from in the US had a million dollar weapons collection and a safe room built into the house. Really cool stuff, WW2 folding paratrooper rifles and cool stuff like that. Another weird thing, even more off topic about our house lol…..the neighbors house is the house from Creep Show and our house is I it also. Weird but interesting.

My Dad left me most of these weapons when he died. One of them is a US Springfield Armory model 1898 krag 30-40. He never even shot it and it still has the price tag on it. I grew in the woods when I was a kid and have become a city rat since then. But I do understand. I use to get that same feeling being in a boat. Peace! But it quickly because a hole to flush money down. A safe room must be nice. We our in a big wood gun case and in closets. We are very careful allowing anyone to come into our house.
 
Last 10 years my wife and I spent alot of weekends at upside down pineapple takeover parties...made some lifelong friends ...now we're taking a stepback to focus on other areas...my stepson's football and powerlifting careers as he's getting college offers for both...hopefully Friday night lights turns into Saturday night lights! 3x all American so far high school powerlifting (last year 585 squat, 365 bench, and 585 deadlift - conventional stance all in 242 raw division at high school nationals as a junior at 16) and in football 2nd team All conference last year in the toughest conference in the state he's double and triple teamed every play by D1 signees and recruits and still making plays...that's our other interests

I'm really into swords , I have katanas that been folded over 1200 times ,Damascus and a fire katana infused with copper dust so the folding pattern resembles flames in the steel folded 1500 times . I also like others have a bunch of guns but not a collector of those.
 
II've dabbled in many things over the years. Art, music, drugs. Women, motorcycles, cars. But the ones that have stuck through the years are motorcycles, music, been playing guitar for 56 years, reading, usually informative materials, and women. My wife has alzheimers and I have 3 very large dogs, so we dont get out and do too much any more. She's like a 3 year old, can't feed herself can barely walk any more. So I go to work, hit the gym, come home and become the house keeper lol. So much guitars have become my at home source of pleasure. And women and the gym outside of home. I've been to prison twice so if I have any weapons I dont really talk about that too much any more. For me a third conviction would be life especially given my history. I've settled way down from my glory days, if that's what they were. I should say I also derive a great deal of enjoyment hanging with the grandkids

He broke his fibula last Friday just before halftime. 2 game left in season...so far they've played at the time 2 number 1's in the state (3rd is this friday), a #8, #22, and #35...they're only 3-5 overall and currently ranked #30 out of like 400 high schools in the state...toughest strength of schedule in state...I dont think he's gonna be ready in February to qualify for state powerlifting again this year.. the qualifying lifts are easy but he's got 6-8 weeks in a walking boot ahead of him...nationals is in april

Feb 14th Germantown Regional meet is last state qualifier of high school season...whspa high school state meet is march 6-8...nationals is April....state qualifying totals is only 1135 for 220/242/275 ...he weighed 245 recently...just has to heal...he's gotten 2nd at nationals all 3 years so far by 5-10lbs...this is his senior year chance to be 4 time high school all American...

Sorry to hear that. Football is a very rough sport. I played high school and Div 1-AA and then went on to coach football for 22 years. I have seen some very tragic injuries. It honestly broken my heart to see such young kids going through such traumatic injuries. But that's part of the game. Good luck!

My stepson's senior football video...toughest conference in the state and every week double and triple teamed facing at least 1 sometimes 2 D1 commits...if anyone has any contacts to send a bio and video too please lmk asap

I remember when Hudl first came out. Before that coaches had to meet up on Saturday morning and trade VHS film. They we spent the rest of the morning breaking it all down. With Hudl you just sent a notification that you were ready to trade and the break down process was much less time consuming. By Sunday morning we were able to use those smart board to run the video from a computer and prepare for the game. After a few seasons we had several years of video that was easy to access. The kids all have accounts and can easily pull video of themselves as yours did. This make the recruiting process much easier.

At onetime in my career I coached DL and was previously a OL coach. I found guys that understood OL played DL much better. Your son has been well coached and knows how to handle double teams well and gets off blocks quickly. He also steps over the LOS and pursues down the LOS quickly. Someone should pick him up, his is a very good shade, very good size and very quick on his feet. Good luck to your son!!! Scouts should also be impressed with the weight he is hitting in the gym. Lots of potential.

5'10" 245#...he's probably not getting more than 1" in height if any at all.

Also new hobby wife and I wanna do is spinning breakbeats, dnb, techno, house, electro and mix in some rap or metal with those beats. I lived in Florida in 90s when raves were big and she has a good ear...bought a mixer board from St Vincent De Paulsbut no software, laptop, headphones, or speakers yet
 
I spent so much time on the road when working for my rich uncle Sam that I sort of lost interest in any hobbies. I worked all over the Middle East and there wasn't much time for any hobbies. Can't ride motorcycles in most of the places I been. I always said one day I would slow down but after I was 100% disabled in 2014 I went back to work in the oil field. Retirement didn't really suit me. Now I travel as much as I ever did and spend most of my time alone which suits me fine.

As for my current hobbies, I really only play video games. Yes, I am a 52 year old man playing call of duty against a bunch of kids but I can hold my own. Its funny cause some of the guys I play with are old team mates so we use the same old man tactics on the kids...

I have owned and ridden bikes my whole life and about 2 years ago we got really behind when work slowed and I had to sell both my Harleys just to pay the mortgage and my daughter's tuition. Broke my heart but it was the only move I had left. She's finishing her BS now and I found another job and we're all good now. I haven't bought another bike yet but I am eyeing a few. Gonna go back with another Road Glide Special for sure but this time I want all black. I get sick of polishing chrome.

I have a teensy, tiny collection of weapons of various calibers and designs. Nothing "collectible" as most would understand it. I have a very utilitarian approach to my collection as everything is designed and built with a purpose. I do build some of my own weapons as well so my collection is varied. I'll put it this way, every time the news media uses the term "stockpile" to describe someone who has 1k rounds... I giggle a little inside.

Outside of that, its just the gym and try to get home as often as I can.

That's rough and good there's a light at the end of the tunnel for you and congrats on your daughter finishing up her BS degree. Hope you can try buying back your beloved bikes from the person you sold them to :)

My wife is hooked on COD, The two of you have probably cussed each other out online more than once 😂. I play that shit for 5 minutes and get fed up. I shoot a guy 5 times in the face and he runs up and stabs me….I'm done. Over it. lol
