so i was doing deadlifts monday... i start off with 135x10 then go 155x8 after that i noticed i was a little sore right about my tail bone when i bent over to pick up my water bottle. i went on to do 185x6 and 205x4 215x2 225 x2... anyways last night when i was trying to sleep i had some pretty bad pains when i tried to change positions... today i still had some pains in the same are but it feels like its going away the more i move around...... is this bad? im pretty sure my form is right from what ive read and seen.

Doing heavy deads you will "feel" it the next day. If you know your form was on don't worry about it, just monitor how long it takes to heal up. I'm assuming you only do deads once a week? Your body will recover and you'll be left with monster lats. :)

I noticed some severe lower back pain from deads before, what I did was alternate weeks, one week would be mass building back days with deads and the following week I would do heavy lat pulls, and heavy bent over rows, maybe try alternating... I wouldn't be too concerned with it.

yea i only do deads once a week. i use a 3 day split program.... bench off deads off squats off... im about to start doing bench twice a week though. when i do deads, i also do one arm bent over rows and standing behind the neck military press with dumbell bars. when i do the rows my grip fails when i do 80s at like 3rd rep, i guess i need to get wrist wraps to tie my hand to it.

Definately get some straps.. I don't go heavy without them. Some call it cheating, I call it beening smart. :) Getting into heavier weights requires some grip assistance!

where is your back sore?? When i go heavy, my lower lumbar area is destroyed! I'm talkin it's sore for about 2-3 days. Make sure to lift off using mostly your legs. A lot of guys have piss poor form and arch their back to pull up. Try adding hypers, good mornings and stiff leggeds to build that lower part on your back. It'll make quite a difference IMHO

Good advice. Yeah when I do deads I am so low to the ground to start and try using as much quad strength as possible to pull up. I do see a lot of guys bending slightly and lifting the bar away from their legs. I think it's best to let the bar roll right up your legs until your straight bent back slightly...

thanx guys.... yea i try to keep the bar touching my legs at all times and use my legs for the initial lift, and i keep my back as tight and straight as possible.

btw my back is much better today, pretty much all the soreness is gone...

did deads again yesterday.... no pains at all ... barely any soreness either the next day... must have been bad form last time.
